CARITAS Switzerland (CACH) has been working in Ethiopia for more than 40 years. Currently CACH cooperates with national partners in Ethiopia. CACH is registered as an International Non-Government Organization in Ethiopia and implements humanitarian and development projects/programs in the fields of Income (e.g. capacity building – knowledge transfer, graduation approach, value-chain and business modelling), Climate (e.g. agriculture, forest and land management) and Relief. Our current working areas are in Oromia, Sidama, Tigray and SNNPR. CACH supports and currently implements eight different projects in these regions.

Summary of Duties

Both Livelihoods/economic inclusion/graduation programs and capacity development experts are expected to work under the operational leadership of the Project Team Leader. They are supposed to support, draft and co-edit beneficiary training materials, improve Training of Trainers (TOT) and coaching materials, draft training manuals and facilitators guide. Furthermore, they participate in assessments and studies on the existing livelihood support and the capacity of the service providers as well as draft and co-edit assessment reports and support in presenting findings to the government and development partners.

Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Participate in conducting assessments;
  • Co-authorship in assessment reports and presentation to the government and partners;
  • Develop a suite of training modules/curricula;
  • Edit, prepare and co-prepare training materials and manuals developed within the project;
  • Assist the setting up of project-level complaint and accountability mechanisms
  • Support stakeholder (donor, government, internal) reporting and ensure to adhere to the timelines and reporting templates.

Job Requirements

About you

  • The ideal candidate represents the majority of the below mentioned areas:
  • University Degree in Project Management, Economics, Business Development or very similar; with excellent and proven communication and writing skills (report/proposal elaboration);
  • At least 5 years or above relevant work experience in a similar position, proven experience in economic inclusion, graduation programming, and/or capacity development;
  • Experience in relevant working areas with international organizations and government program in Ethiopia; work experience with UN/Worldbank is a strong asset;
  • Knowledge in participatory approaches, problem resolving capacity and very strong communication/writing skills;
  • Excellent command of English, both, in writing and spoken is absolutely mandatory; a good knowledge in another national language than Amharic is an asset;
  • Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) would be considered an added value.
