Hence we are here looking for a high caliber business professional who have the practical experiences related to his/her job title and the ability to work on a challenging business environment/sector

JOB SUMMARY

Logistics head is responsible for handling all shipping documentation that deals with imports and exports. S/he is expected to work closely with the workforces in the warehouse as well as the customer service staffs, and S/he will also require to interacts with customers by handling their inquiries and attending to their specified needs. The logistics head supervises the movement, processing, distribution and storage of supplies and materials in a company

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing logistics performance of direct reports
  • Prepare annual logistics plan as per the approved plan and budget, draw implementation action plan through classifying the items in terms of delivery risk and expenditure/ price of the item.
  • Prepare shipping documentation; arrange/ facilitate cross border cargo clearance (Land/Air/Sea Freight)
  • Prepare full set of documentation related to international bookings and process all import and export documentation to destination clearing agents to include: (Invoice, Packing List, Shipping Instructions, Cargo Declaration, Bill of Ladings, and Certificate of Origin etc.)
  • To effectively lead and control the section at optimum productivity level and trucking in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Coordination of shipment operations, (airfreight / sea freight / cross-border alerts to agents)
  • To manage and ensure smooth operations by being proactive on the ground and responding to any feedback from stores and transporters.
  • To observe and give feedback on processes for optimization.
  • To work closely with stores and transporters to ensure smooth operations.
  • Track and trace shipments, researching and resolving any issues regarding billing or shipping discrepancies, communicate timely correspondence back to both customers and vendors
  • To manage all administration matters relating to the Air and Sea operation set up
  • Ensures smooth incoming/outgoing operations in logistics center, including on-time delivery and zero defects.
  • Designs and implements logistics processes in the areas of business operations and customs,
  • Be responsible for vendor management, which includes contract negotiation, performance review and process optimization.
  • Supports the business development on new construction materials import and Export operation management in light of international countries and sales agents.
  • Tracks and evaluates Customs regulations changed for operation impact. Provides information and solution internally to help make business decisions.
  • Participate logistics projects requiring coordination with other business units.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • BSc/BA degree in Procurement/ Purchasing, logistics and Supply Management, Public/ Business Administration, Economics, Management, Accounting, Civil engineering and other related fields.
  • For BSc/BA degree, Minimum of 6 years’ progressive practical experience in the field out of which 2 years at managerial level.

Skill and Knowledge

  • The candidate must have full knowledge of Import/Export procedures
  • The candidate must have full knowledge of Ethiopian Customs rules and procedures
  • Who has an experience before in exporting coffee, pulses, oil seeds, and other Ethiopian products to all over the worlds, African regions, include all documentation and dealing with forwarder;
  • Good knowledge of Ethiopian Commodity Exchange working system
  • Proven knowledge of Exportable Agricultural local market price and Supplier networks
  • Proven knowledge of Import business and its operation specially for construction materials.
  • Proven knowledge of exporting companies which are familiar in the Ethiopian market
  • Experience in handling importation of construction materials and exporting coffee, pulses and oilseeds.
  • Proven Knowledge in HS code and Strategic Goods Control preferred.
  • Shipment processing, import & export permit declaration and shipment tracking.
  • Liaise with forwarders, suppliers and customers/consignees.
  • Sourcing freight rates and containers booking.
  • Knowledge in prepare shipping documentation, coordination and L/C negotiations.
  • Knowledge in apply free sales certificate, import licenses, CO., insurance and etc.
  • General administrative duties in shipping and logistics.
  • Possess own permit declaration ID / Customs Authorized Permits Declarant (if any)
  • To handle courier related works like DHL/FedEx etc (import and export)
