Job Description

SUMMARY OF THE JOB

To ensure profitable district operation by providing responsive leadership to the local requirements in light of corporate strategic orientation and in line with the high level leadership established at the corporate level. The role is primarily tasked with coordinating branch resource mobilization efforts of branches by providing support and monitoring their performances.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate directives and instructions from Head office or from the district initiation on operational matters to branches under the district and follow up proper adherence or implementation;
  • Assess and recommend potential areas for branch expansion;
  • Direct and monitor the resource mobilization activities of branches under its domain;
  • Enforce customer service quality standards and monitor their implementation;
  • Follow up and authorize provision of required materials/resources and facilities to branches;
  • Review and approve requests for loans within his/her discretion;
  • Follow up the settlement of overdue loans and ensure appropriate actions are taken timely against defaulters;
  • Consolidate review and submit the district branches operational, activity, audit rectification reports to the Branch Management Department/Chief Retail Banking Officer;
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, supervise and control the operation of the district and branches under the District;
  • Identify human resource need of the District and recruit accordingly up to level of authority;
  • Prepare district work plans and monitor their execution;
  • Prepare budgets for the District and track their implementation;
  • Attend correspondences that emanate from internal as well as external stakeholders;
  • Review and initiate changes related to operations policy and procedure matters;
  • Coach and mentor employees within the District towards effective career development;
  • Evaluate the periodic performance of Managers and Branch managers under the District;
  • Manage disciplinary concerns of the District staff and Branch Managers under the District;
  • Take part in the District decision making process by forming part of panel/committee(s).

Job Requirement

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum BA in Management, Accounting, Economics, Business Management, Banking and Finance or business related field a minimum of 10 years work experience in banking of which five (5) years in Banking Operations supervisory positions, or MBA/MA in Management, Finance, Economics, or related fields, with eight (8) years of experience of which three (3) years should be at supervisory positions;
  • Full professional qualification is required;
  • Specialist knowledge of the banking sector;
  • Computer literate;
