Job Description

Specific duties and responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise overall administrative & operational activities of the project at the Lasta-Lalibela Food security Project sites.
  • Ensure that project activities are implemented as per the plan, within a time and allocated budget.
  • Closely follow up on the performance of component officers of the project and take corrective measures on those who are below expectation.  
  •  Participate in the design and planning of new projects as may be it is necessary.
  • Monitor the technical soundness of the project activities to ensure the project’s objectives are fully met.
  • Keep appropriate contact with Line Departments, local authorities, service cooperatives, peasant associations, local populations, as well as with other institutions and NGOs etc. as are necessary for the project identifications, planning, implementation and sustainability.
  • Ensure that the management of the project is functioning smoothly.
  •  Administer & supervise the entire project personnel and such responsibilities include all managerial activities like hiring, suspending and taking or recommending disciplinary actions in accordance with the Labour Law, the guidelines of the Organization and the Collective Agreement.
  • Supervise the effective use of vehicles, equipment and materials under the project use.
  • Facilitate and participate in training of project staff and beneficiaries as deemed necessary for the sustainability of the project.
  • Monitor project expenditure within the project area to ensure that it is within the assured budget.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual and terminal reports and submit to the Program Officer, within schedule.
  • Represent the organization and attend different local or regional meetings.
  • Prepare annual work plan and working budget & submit to the head office through Program Officer.
  • Attend regular and other meeting of Implementing Partners (IPs) by representing LWF and forward decision and issues of concern to the Program Officers.
  • Prepare monthly work plan and check if all activities are implemented according to the plan and inform the Program Officer any deviation for timely decision.
  • Check bill of quantities and payment schedules for work carried out at the work sites, before approving payment (s).
  • Build and facilitate team work among project staff.
  • Submit monthly financial and narrative reports with supporting documents to the Program Officer and Finance Office.
  • Observe all LWF World Service Ethiopia Staff Rules, Collective Agreement and other Operational Manuals.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Irrigation engineering and other related social fields,
  • Minimum of 6 year’s relevant work experience for Bachelor degree and 4 years for Master’s degree,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Amharic and English languages
  • Strong proposal and report writing skills
  • Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision
  • Strong representation, partnership and networking skills
  • Prior management experience involving staff management, financial management, and other administration functions such as procurement and logistics
  • Strong project management skills; and solid working experience in food security, water resource development and natural resource management
  • Strong coordination and organizational skills
  • Capable to work in close cooperation and coordination with partners and government offices including the communities
  • NGO Experience is advantageous
