GIZ promotes complex reforms and change processes.

In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on the commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors.

Responsibilities and duties

The HR Assistant performs the following tasks:

  •  Performs general clerical tasks
  • Tracking files going to and from HR section and assists the HR professionals in filing
  • Under the supervision of the HR professionals handles filings in HR: file creation; ensuring required documents for a given personnel file has been fulfilled; populating existing personnel files as needed
  • Labelling files as per organizational requirements and ensures appropriate filling accordingly
  • Assists HR professionals in sorting and find seasonal documents
  • Assist HR professionals in organizing the electronic database creating new ones and doing file clearing up as required
  • Provides supports during audits
  • Compiling terminated staff file on one data base

General tasks

  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management
  • Run errands, e.g. delivering and collecting documents within the country office
  • Photocopies and scans documents as needed

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Completion of a college education or similar in the field of business administration, public administration, management, or related field;

Professional experience:

  •  At least 2 year’s professional experience in a comparable position; HR experience is advantageous

Other knowledge, additional competencies:

  • Knowledge of Ms office packages
  • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (in particular MS Excel, etc.)
  • High level of accuracy, diligence and reliability
  • Impressive track record in a service provider and governance role
  • Profound knowledge of English language both in speaking and writing
  • Awareness of how to handle HR issues appropriately (confidentiality, data protection)
  • Working in multi-cultural environment
  • Good management and organizational skills
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed
