Job Description

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Provide leadership in the management of all emergency Supply Chain functions in for the Tigray Response
  • Develop/implement the global policies, donor’s requirements while also complying with any country-specific regulations both SCI’s and government’s
  • Lead the coordination of tracking deliveries of emergency supplies in any direction, and apply mitigation steps to avoid delays, disruptions, damage and loss.
  • Lead in producing a quality logistics plan including the identification of necessary resources,
  • Manage and support logistics staff including ensuring appropriate team structures, clear division of responsibilities, clear objectives, and management of performance
  • Ensure that supplies are managed well and that the necessary services in use meets appropriateness, cost effectiveness and Value for Money (VfM) standards
  • Provide advice and support to the Emergency Supply Chain Manager or senior management on logistics issues
  • Be responsible for submitting timely reports on all aspects of procurement and KPI management
  • Management of all Gift In Kind (GiK) in coordination with Award Management & Programme
  • The post-holder will comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to child safeguarding, safety and security, code of conduct, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • BA degree in an area of Management or Supply Chain Management
  • 8 years Significant prior INGO experience in procurement, within a complex/large scale country program and in emergency response/humanitarian environments
  • Substantial experience in all technical areas of logistics in emergencies
  • Experience of developing / implementing a complex logistics strategy to support different types of programs, and coordinating resources to meet the program objectives
  • Experience of working in remote field bases with limited infrastructure
  • Ability to synthesize and analyze complex information, and make clear, informed decisions
  • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to build positive & productive relationships quickly with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English with experience in managing multicultural teams

Desirable

  • Technical experience/training in specific areas of logistics
  • Technical experience/knowledge in specific types of humanitarian intervention eg Health, WASH, Food Security
