Project Description:
UNIQUE forestry and land use GmbH with GFA Consulting Group GmbH have been awarded to assess the technical, economic, financial, institutional, social and ecological feasibility of Financial Cooperation (FC) measures for enhancing the productivity of Farm Production Clusters for cereal-based farming systems in high potential highland-regions of Ethiopia.
The final product consists of a detailed design for the module “Improvement of agricultural value chains and productivity” – which forms Module 6 of the bilateral cooperation Program for the Promotion of Agricultural Growth and Productivity in Ethiopia. The overall module objective is to sustainably enhance agricultural productivity and value addition in upstream (i.e. seed, fertilizer, other quality inputs) and downstream (i.e. aggregation, transport, storage, processing and marketing) sub-sectors to improve the income of smallholder farmers and other value chain actors.
Job Requirements
The expert should have the following qualifications and competences:
- Postgraduate university degree in a discipline of environmental sciences, rural development, agriculture or in another relevant discipline
- At least 10 years of practical professional experience in areas such as:
- environmental and social regulations with relevance to agricultural value chains in Ethiopia
- Performance of an environmental risk screening, an E&S gap analysis and a climate screening
- assessment and management of environmental and social impacts for agriculture and value chain programs
- Development of an Environmental and Social Risk / Impact Assessment approach
- Execution of a systematic environmental and social risk screening
- Development of an ESMF
