Job Summary: 

The Finance and Administration Officer will be part of Zonal RIPA (Resilience in Pastoral Area) team that aims to help improve resilience to enhance food security and inclusive economic growth for lowland pastoral communities funded by USAID. Project Concern International (PCI) seeks to recruit an individual who is passionate, knowledgeable, and experienced administrative works and have basic financial skills. The successful candidate’s assignment will involve Zonal office management, support logistics management, preparation of financial requisitions, and other administrative work.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Financial management tasks

  • Prepares Monthly Cash Projections/ cash advances in collaboration with Zonal RIPA Team leader
  • Effect Payments/ wire transfers for approved individuals/ beneficiaries
  • Performs day-to-day implementation of all accounting transactions to meet the office operational expenses and technical requirements
  • verifying all invoices for payment and ensure expenditures are charged to appropriate codes
  • Closes all books before 25th of each month and forward documents to Finance and Operations Director for review
  • Supports review of monthly bank Statements, verify deposits, handle discrepancies and problems

2. Administrative tasks

  • Draft and type routine correspondences
  • Maintain filing and other office systems
  • Handles communication including telephone, fax and email
  • Assists in preparing programs for visitors, including hostel bookings
  • Support in arranging travel schedules and related logistics (including fund monitoring), together with expense claims for staff
  • Maintains office environment and stationery supplies with appropriate records
  • Respond to queries promptly and in a friendly manner
  • Liaises with the appropriate units for repair, supply, and maintenance of office facilities
  • Facilitate Zonal level meetings, training, and workshops

Job Requirements

  • BA Degree in Accounting, or Business Management
  • Efficiency with use of (Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is essential
  • 3-5 years’ experience in as an administrative and finance assistance preferable for an NGO  
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in English, Somalia and other Ethiopian languages
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks to meet deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills: ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work a nontraditional work schedule
  • Comfortable working in a start-up environment
