Responsibilities and duties:

  • Supervise and contribute to the farmers training activities in the operations areas (ToT, ToF, Refresher trainings) and organize farmer exchange visits,
  • In collaboration with the Agronomist, Support the formulation of the annual work plan and budget for the activities of the coffee farmers’ activities, 
  • In collaborations with the Agronomists, lead in the registration of framers working with Sucafina Ethiopia
  • Train farmers on Coffee husbandry and other topics such as climate change, soil conservation, animal husbandry, nutrition, health issues, etc.
  • Liaise with the Agronomist and the local leaders on the participation of their staff in FFS training courses and implementation of FFS methodology in the community. Provide advice on follow-up activities of graduated FFS and FFS network and curriculum.
  • Participate in the institutional learning initiatives; provide technical leadership and coordination to ensure the establishment of efficient information systems and timely dissemination of information
  • Conduct coaching and training to farmers and exporters, as necessary to those with whom we work on productivity improvement and other aspects such as, financial management.
  • Prepare quality reports and other documents as required and submit them timely.
  • Facilitate the implementation of all Company’s sustainability programs/Projects
  • Develop and share farmers training reports regularly (weekly, monthly, quarterly annually)
  • Check and report farmers compliance with various sustainability standards
  • Act on coffee farms supervision of the implementation of the activities vested in the agreement to be performed by the farm, such as improved agronomic practices
  • Ensure quality control to get the best out of the set performance scheme,
  • Organize out-growers as per the agreement and work to improve their yield as well as quality improvement activities to increase total yield and expected quality of the area,
  • Give training to farmers,
  • Control the transparency of coffee supply from farmers to washing stations/farms,
  • Proof second payment being paid in years of profit to out-grower farmers, if stated in the agreement,
  • Control stock movement,
  • Produce daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the Agronomist,
  • Perform other jobs as required.
  • Organize and coordinate Farmer Field school /FFS activities in all project areas and the washing stations,

Duty Station: Primarily based in Yirgachefe at the SUCAFINA field Office with occasional trips to Addis Ababa office.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related fields.

Experience:

  • Mid-Level (2+ years experience)
  • Other knowledge, additional competencies:
  • Excellent skills in English & Amharic (writing, speaking, listening)
  • Knowledge of other local dialects is an additional asset
  • Competence in Computer literacy including but not limited to Data encoding, Online Reporting Tools, and Data management and analysis tools are required
  • Excellent skills in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience in using MS Teams is an advantage
  • Very good skills to communicate with actors on different levels and different organizations
  • Flexibility and preparedness to perform a changing array of duties according to the needs of the Company
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in an intercultural team
  • Preparedness to work with a high requirement of time, travel, and output pressure
