Responsibilities and duties:

Summary of the Role: Crop Production and Supply & Demand Analysis

  • Structure and analyze all relevant coffee supply & demand data
  • Conduct fieldwork through crop surveys and regular farm visits
  • Collect all production-related information including yields, acreages, costs of production, pests, and disease levels
  • Structure, consolidate, and analyze all relevant crop survey data
  • Provide sound analysis and ensure efficient and timely communication with analysts
  • Establish clear, objective, and efficient reports
  • Coffee weather monitoring and forecasting
  • Ensure close stakeholder linkage and feedback
  • Customer focus - Build close relationships with stakeholders and ensure alignment
  • Proactive in driving processes and tasks to achieve results.
  • Ability to work with people
  • Able to work in a multicultural environment
  • Strong team orientation as key to factor access
  • Able to create and develop resourceful ideas and solutions, to improve and process, information in the area of work

  • Articulate research findings from fundamental market analysis
  • Support overall research functions with market data and insights
  • Knowledge of agronomic practices and techniques
  • Properly designed crop surveys and follow up visits
  • Timely and sound crop and scenario analysis
  • Good communication with the team
  • On-time, relevant, complete, and accurate data collection and reporting
  • Valuable recommendations trading decisions

Duty Station: Primarily based in the SUCAFINA Addis Ababa office with regular field travel to Areas of operation.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related fields.

Experience:

  • Mid Level (2+ years in the commodity industry with International exposure).

Other knowledge, additional competencies:

  • Excellent skills in English & Amharic (writing, speaking, listening)
  • Knowledge of other local dialects is an additional asset
  • Competence in Computer literacy including but not limited to Data encoding, utilizing online research tools, and other web-based platforms are required
  • Excellent skills in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience in using MS Teams is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in an intercultural team
  • Very good skills to communicate with actors on different levels and different organizations
  • Ability to work under stress and respond to tight deadlines
  • Understanding of commodity crop cycles and the key drivers of production
  • Technical aptitude to explain agronomic findings to a lay audience
  • Flexibility and preparedness to perform a changing array of duties according to the needs of the Company
  • Preparedness to work with a high requirement of time, travel, and output pressure
