Job Description
The International Rescue Committee, one of the world’s largest humanitarian international NGOs, provides relief, rehabilitation and development support to vulnerable people and communities over 30 countries. We began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in Ethiopia’s Somali region and are currently providing assistance to Ethiopians and refuges in six regions in Ethiopia, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.
Scope:
The Position mainly involves undertaking rapid Hygiene Promotion Officer (HPO) need assessments and implementing emergency WASH response. The HPO will be based in Karat Town, Konso Zone of SNNP Region and can be deployed to Ale special Woreda, Derashe Special Woreda, and other emerging emergency areas localities of the country program whenever need.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION: BSC in Sanitary Science, Public Health, Environmental Health.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, NGO setting preferred.
LANGUAGES: Communication in English, and Amharic,
SKILLS: Ability to use computer (basic operating systems) experience & skills in community mobilization.
