UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, health

Ethiopia continues to face the consequences of climate-induced shocks and intercommunal conflict and violence that were compounded in 2020 by the negative consequences of desert locust infestation and the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, a deteriorating food security situation (compromised access to markets, high food prices), weakened access to health and nutrition services were some of the factors that led to a deteriorating Nutrition situation country-wide. The end of 2020 has seen an increasing number of conflicts taking place in several parts of the country. In Tigray, the ongoing conflict led to the destruction of infrastructure, massive population displacements, and the collapse of the health system. Access constraints are hindering humanitarian actors to support the affected population, the delivery of the emergency response is of very limited coverage and there is a lack of data to evaluate the severity of the Nutrition situation.

How can you make a difference?
