Content production to meet Partnership & Digital media requirements
- Production of high-quality multimedia content for fundraising and reporting purposes. Use WV systems for content delivery and coordination.
- Liaise with and coordinate content stakeholders to manage, identify and prioritize content requirements to meet the highest value and broadcast need.
- Design a digital content plan and manage the social media and online content and updates (i.e. via blogs, vlogs, Tweets, Facebook etc.) to help grow reach, following and engagement across WV Ethiopia’s digital platforms.
Internal Communications
- Support response leadership in their communications to the Partnership via agreed partnership channels.
- Work with response leaders to issue urgent updates (Executive Alerts and Declarations) in response to high-priority updates.
Strategic Leadership & Communication
- Contribute to an external engagement strategy and build the Tigray Crisis response communication strategy/plan that reflects, fundraising, positioning and public engagement goals.
- With key stakeholders (response leadership and response advocacy) craft the core narrative and key messages and promote consistency in use across response and organization communications.
- Monitor the internal humanitarian, media and security landscape and works with and advises leadership, management and response functions on all areas of brand and reputation applying World Vision brand standards and complying with World Vision risk reporting protocols.
- Manage donor and high-profile visits to the Response
- Coordinate, plan and facilitate VIP visits from other World Vision/external partners. Grow digital engagement and multimedia skills for the communications specialist, and build capacity for Response staff in basic communication competencies.
- Participate in all required and recommended learning programs and trainings for communicators
- Ensure that key staff are effective communicators and have taken the recommended communication trainings for leaders on e-campus
Media & VIP Engagement
- Work with SO and GC communications and other entities to build a media communications plan in line with response strategy goals.
- Host and coordinate media trips to effectively position World Vision and its work, minimizing reputational damage.
- Enable media positioning efforts in order to highlight humanitarian need (with a focus on children), issues, World Vision expertise, positions, reports, events, global and campaign moments and staff.
- Liaise with SO, GC and other WV entity communications to pursue, prioritize, coordinate, pitch, react to and manage media interviews, opportunities and content.
Reputational Risk Management.
- Monitoring and proactively respond to reputation risks and engage relevant staff/offices when issues arise.
Job Requirements
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
- BA or MA Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English language, Literature, Political Science & International Relations or related fields.
- Emergency Communications training is an added advantage
- Minimum 5 years professional experience in Media and journalism, and/or in Emergency Communications in a multi-cultural, child-focused, non-profit/corporate, and/or humanitarian organization.
- Emergency Communications, Digital Management and engagement, Multimedia skills (Writing, Photography, Videography and graphic design).
- Highly skilled in Adobe Master Suit Programs (Photoshop, Premier Pro, InDesign and Illustrator)
- Can speak, write, and interpret Tigrigna Language into Amharic and English and vice versa
