The Manager for Research and Development is responsible to lead and coordinate the research, analysis and coordination of information relevant to the development of the association’s advocacy, networking, and lobbying strategy and policies. He/she provides expertise to the association, and works closely with research teams of member Banks in developing researches and proposals relevant to the banking industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises a team of research ensuring that they are appropriately trained and motivated and carry out their responsibilities to the required standards;
- Develops and implements research methods and work processes to ensure that a high standard of service is provided to the association and its member Banks on issues of national significance;
- Assists in the development of the association’s research policies to ensure that these support the overall mission and objectives of the association;
- Develops and implements research programs relevant to the association and ensures that results are communicated clearly, concisely and accurately to managers and staff of member banks as well as the association;
- Maintains and develops a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of research methods and developments to ensure that any research carried out is based on the best and most up-to-date methods and information;
- Reviews all research reports and publications to ensure a high degree of accuracy, clarity and readability;
- Develops and maintains contacts with external sources to ensurethat the best possible information is gained and to provide effective advice to managers and staff of member banks and the association;
- Represents the association at external meetings and conferenceson research issues, ensuring that a positive image of the association is promoted;
- Oversees the research budget, ensuring that any research projects undertaken are relevant, accurately costed and provide value for money;
- Formulates advocacy strategy based on valid research finding to create favorable context for the performance of the banking industry;
- Formulates stakeholder engagement strategy for building the national competitiveness and market orientation of the banking industry in Ethiopia;
- Develops action plan for the use of knowledge and expertise of veteran bankers for lobbying and advocacy efforts of the banking industry in Ethiopia;
- Creates networking with national and international universities aiming at encouragement of research activity in the banking industry;
- Organizes and manages documentation center for creating easy access for researchers and information users related macro economy and banking industry database;
Job Requirement
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least 8 (eight) years for Bachelor’s, or 6 (six) years of direct experiences in the fields of Economics, Business, Finance, or related;
- Skillful and experienced with statistical computer applications and other MS Office tools
- Demonstrated competencies with leadership and management, communication and presentation, research, planning and budget preparations, and report writing skills
