Job Description

  • As an International Christian Humanitarian Development organization, World Vision Ethiopia (WVE) is trusted to deliver integrated programs with target communities through its 51 Area programs (APs) located in seven regional states of the country. WVE envisions a thriving organization where our strong leadership at all levels results in improved delivery of results for children.

PURPOSE OF THE POSTION

The Head of Technical Programme will provide leadership and management to the TP portfolio for World Vision Ethiopia. He/she will lead and oversee the implementation of projects assigned to the TP, be responsible for the TP growth and represent WVE with donors, partners and the government for issues relating to the TP sectors.

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Assure that World Vision Ethiopia is an active participant at cluster/consortia meetings, donor discussions and with the government of Ethiopia relevant to sectors covered by the TP.
  • Lead the development and growth of the TP portfolio in collaboration with the resource acquisition and PELS team
  • Oversee the development of implementation guides, tool development and documentation of best practices relevant to areas covered by the TP.
  • Assure that projects under the TP are implemented according to donor standards, timelines and best practices.
  • Assure that a robust monitoring and reporting system is effective, providing real time updated on the TP implementation to the SLT, Donors and the wider World Vision Partnership.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments in WV Ethiopia to assure that the TP is implemented according to plans and that there is a high level of integration between TPs at all levels
  • Manage a team of technical specialists and project implementers, providing leadership and managerial guidance and oversee technical support to field based staff through a matrix management system
  • Represent the TP focus areas in Operations Leadership meeting, and with the SLT when required.

Job Requirement

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

  • 10 years post qualification experience in project/portfolio management or sector relevant to the TP
  • Strong experience in proposal writing and the successful acquisition of grants.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Self- directed individual able to work well in a team and build a team
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent ability to communicate on issues relevant to the TP
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity and physical stamina
  • Excellent ability to work in and contribute to team building environment

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • Post graduate degree in Agriculture , Development Studies, Economics and other related fields

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Office-based with 20% travel to the field
  • Travel: Frequent travel to project site, RO, CPO and AP
  • On call: 25%
