Introduction

ASDEPO is a humanitarian, Civil Society Organization founded in 2014 that works in all regions of Ethiopia. ASDEPO fulfills its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities. Under its mandate, the organization focuses on emergency humanitarian response, rehabilitation and post-conflict recovery.

ASDEPO’ s operation in Tigrai and Gambella Region currently is focused on Emergency Nutrition response to Conflict-Affected communities through CMAM approach in Tigray Regional State, Embalaje, Bora and Selawa Woredas and Gambella region Abobo and Jor waredas.

Role Purpose:

CMAM Officer will support the implementation of Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) activities at the health facilities and community level. The Nutrition Officer will work with ASDEPO’s field office to ensure the prevention of stunting among children from 6-59 months and pregnant and lactating women in respect to the donor standards and the increase of attendance for MNCH services 

Key Areas of Accountability:

Smooth and accurate running of TFP:

  • Ensure that protocols are strictly followed and implemented.
  • Support and supervise the accurate anthropometrics measurements.
  • Ensure the registration of new beneficiaries for nutrition program by following strictly the protocols and provide individual nutrition counseling based on the nutrition status, age of the child/pregnancy stage, provide information on the nutrition activities, the use of the nutrition supplies.
  • Ensure the nutrition follow-up of each beneficiary based on the strict admission and exit criteria, identify potential discrepancy and correct them accordingly; refer the case to the health facility or TFP in case of need.
  • Ensure the smooth flow of the beneficiaries from the triage to the exit of the nutrition Program.
  • Participate to the forecasting and provision of the nutrition products and other supplies for each site in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper, clear and accurate data recording on registration books and nutrition follow up cards.
  • Demonstrate the preparation of the ration for each new admission.
  • Ensure that all program materials are well maintained.
  • Check the hygiene at each stage of the nutrition supplies distribution.

Location: -Emba Alaje, Bora and Selawa Woredas, Tigrai Region and Abobo and Jor Waredas of Gambella region

Duration: 6 months

 SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS

Accountability:

  • Holds self-accountable for making decisions, managing resources efficiently, achieving and role modeling ASDEPO values.

Requirement

  • Degree in nutrition or nursing or public health with 3 years of experience or diploma in nutrition or nursing or public health with 5 years of experience- Renewed MOH professional license is a must.
  • Experience on emergency nutrition intervention like CMAM, IYCF,
  • Training on CMAM and IYCF
  • Experience of facilitation of training and review meetings
  • Fluent in written and spoken English language
  • Knowledge of local language to the respective Woredas
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel)
  • Ensure that ASDEPO’s food security program intervention

Desirable

  • Knowledge on Emergency Nutrition intervention context is preferred.
