About the project

John Snow, Inc. (JSI) seeks to recruit a Technical Assistant Consultant for its Data Use Partnership(DUP) Project to publish Ethiopia’s experience in strengthening health information system as a special issue on Global Health: Science and Practice journal. The goal of the project is to improve collection and use of high quality routine information; improve the quality, efficiency and availability of primary health, and nutrition services at all levels of the Ethiopian health system. JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) is a public health management consulting and research organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world.

Summary of Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the MERL Director, the consultant will be responsible to support publications on Ethiopia’s experience in strengthening health information system as a special issue on Global Health: Science and Practice journal.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Identify and support stakeholders engaged in HIS in the selection of titles and preparation of manuscripts
  • Liaise with and provide technical writing support to CBMP partner universities and MOH
  • Review and edit manuscripts, ensure they meet the journal’s criteria
  • Follow progress and submission of manuscripts
  • Managing communication with the Journal
  • Perform any other assigned related tasks

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • PhD holder
  • 10 years’ work experience in public health
  • Good understanding and familiarity with the Ethiopian health systems, particularly health information system
  • Rich experience in scientific writing and publishing on peer reviewed global journals
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills in English is highly required
