TERMS OF REFERENCE (TOR) – INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT TO PROVIDE SASA TRAINING
BACKGROUND
International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, non- profit organization dedicated to saving lives and reliving suffering through health care, relief and development programs. Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health and related activities such as prevention of Gender based violence (GBV) activities.
The GBV program in Gambella are implementing the SASA! Community mobilization approach. In SASA! There are four phases and four strategies in all four phases to challenge violence against women and girls.
SASA! rolled out in Gambella refugee camps namely Jewi, Kule, Nguenyyiel, Pinyudo-I, Pinyudo-II, and Terkidi refugee camps and in a way of moving from START phase to Awareness phase process in using four strategies (local activism, training, media and advocacy and communication materials developed by raising voices.
International Medical Corps need to contextualize and adopt SASA! Awareness phase communication materials and tools in to Anywaa and Nuer languages
Scope of Work
International Medical Corps wants to hire a consultant who SASA! Awareness phase communication materials and tool adaptation and contextualization.
- The consultant will develop and adopt Communication materials to Gambella refugee camps context.
- The consultant will be conducted for minimum duration of 5 days (l working days in each camp specified in the ToR).
- The consultant will conduct role out/testing of the adopted and contextualized communication material for both languages (Anywaa and Nuer)
- Consultant expected to deliver the adopted and contextualized tools/communication material's in Nuer and Anywaa language for the respective camps.
Methodology
The communication material will be developed/adopted with discussion all camp through interactive and also utilize a variety of techniques and to approach suitable target audience with a view to ensure maximum internalization of content: and this includes review of all communication materials
Expected numbers of the camps for the consultation contextualization
- 6 refugee camps (Jewi, Kule, Nguenyyiel, Pinyudo-I, Pinyudo-I and Terkidi).
The specific duties of the Consultant (deliverables)
- A detailed and thorough visits to camps to understand respective camp context for six refugee camps (Jewi, Kule, Nguenyyiel, Pinyudo-I, Pinyudo-I and Terkidi).
- Travel to Gambella on September 19, 2021
- Travel to all respective camps September 20-24, 2021
- Travel to Addis Ababa on September 25, 2021
- Consultant to submit all deliverables
International Medical Corps Inputs
International Medical Corps shall provide the following:
- Consultancy fees as agreed upon by International Medical Corps and the Consultant which is 135 USD per person/day
- Printing of contextualized/adopted SASA! communication materials as per competitive market price
Timeline (Specific dates to be agreed with the consultant)
- Travel to Gambella on September l9, 2021
- Travel to all respective camps September 20-24, 2021
- Travel to Addis Ababa on September 25, 2021.
- Consultant to submit the deliverables
Job Requirements
Qualifications Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor's or Master's Degree in any social science field/and experience on SASA.
- Previous experience on SASA/TOT
- Thorough understanding of the behavioral change communication material development strategies
- Knowledge and experience of the refugee setting
- Familiarity with SASA! Approach/GBV/ HIV/AIDS/
- Thorough understanding of SASA! strategies and SASA! communicational material
OTHER COMMENTS: The consultant is expected to deliver the adapted and contextualized Awareness phases communication materials and tools contextualization report before or on September 25th, 2021
