In Ethiopia, Plan has more than 25 years of experience in implementing its program. Currently PIE mainly operates in seven geographical areas; Amhara, Oromia, SNNPR, Gambella, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar, and Addis Ababa City Administration on different projects funded by different donors including sponsorship.

Plan International Ethiopia's main purpose is to seek Gender Justice for Girls, Adolescent Girls, and Young Women. We aim to help create an enabling environment where girls, adolescent girls, and young women are safe, valued, equally cared for, and have equal opportunities. PIE will contribute to the global strategy by aiming to reach directly 2.1 million Girls, Adolescent Girls and Young Women over the period of the strategy 2020-2024 and to reach an additional 6.3 million beneficiaries through its interventions.

The position holder will be responsible to support the implementation and realization of the PIE’s strategy through strategically leading the Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) thematic country program. This would be demonstrated in undertaking responsibilities which includes providing strategic program leadership to SRHR team in the development and execution of country’s strategic plans to deliver high quality programs and to ensure integration and synergies between the SRHR program and other thematic country programs, proactive external engagement, including resources mobilization, networking and collaboration for policy engagement, and learning and knowledge management within the broader organization. These responsibilities will cut across both development and humanitarian sectors, with special attention paid to the nexus between the two.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications/ experience essential:

• Masters in SRHR, Gender Studies, Public Health, Health Monitoring and Evaluation and/or other related disciplines relevant to Plan International Ethiopia’s work
• A minimum of eight years of experience relevant for the position, of which three years at supervisory position
• Demonstrable experience of leading the development and implementation of SRHR programs and influencing/advocacy models in development and humanitarian settings. Demonstrable experience in promoting gender and inclusion and in advancing children’s rights and/or gender equality in a national context
• Comprehensive understanding of relevant governments policies, strategies, programs and priorities related to SRHR
• Proactive engagement and networking on SRHR in Ethiopia 
• Experience in designing & facilitating training for staff and partners using participatory methodologies
• Knowledge and experience in rights based and gender transformative programming and influencing

Qualifications/ experience desirable:

• Knowledge of development issues, trends, challenges and opportunities and implications to community development.
• Demonstrable experience on development and humanitarian nexus will be highly desirable

Languages required

• Fluency in English language is essential
• In addition to Amharic, Knowledge of Local Languages is a desirable
