Job Description

  • One-year contract and possible extension 
  • The position requires a leader researcher that design, develop Clinical trial protocol, conduct clinical trial, guide and coordinate research activities, submit research findings, write manuscript, lead and guide junior researchers. He is expected to present the research findings in relevant forums. He advises on the policy improvement and international collaboration. He also Involve in other activities assigned by the directorate/ institute.
  • Develop, submit and work on priority research proposal based on the SPM of the institute.
  • Coordinate, manage & ensure the performance of the planned activities, report as well as other needed correspondence in a timely manner to the appropriate bodies.
  • Present his/her research findings in relevant forums within and outside of the Institute.
  • Lead and guide junior researchers in all aspects of research proposal development, evaluation, project design and implementation including data collection, management, analysis, and reporting.
  • Develop manuscripts and submits to appropriate journals for publication.
  • Collaborates in developing/writing books based on research findings.
  • Provides training within the institute as required in relation to his expertise.
  • Guides and coordinates activities of updating/adapting and adopting new, relevant and cost-effective techniques and technologies.
  • Advises graduate student.
  • Participates in internal and external (domestic) workshops, seminars and  conferences.
  • Take initiatives to creates and maintain international link related to his team work.
  • Involve in other activities assigned by his supervisor.
  • Advice and contribute on national international issues on health and nutrition related.
  • Based on the research finding advice on the policy improvement and international collaboration.
  • Evaluate the project ideas, scientific papers and suggest their contribution.
  • Participate and contribute on national and international collaborative research in line with national interest.
  • Advise and provide training on both PhD and MSC students.

Job Requirements

  • PhD degree in pharmaceutical chemistry 
  • At least 10 years as a lead researcher
  • Ability to work with and process confidential information with discretion and Sensitivity
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize under pressure
  • Ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with colleagues and partners
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in written and spoken
  • Ability to maintain ICT materials, documentation for external reports and English and Amharic are required
