Purpose

The School Meal food commodity officer will work on the school meals storage component of warehouse management of food commodities and non-food items for participating schools of ZOA’s ‘Improving nutrition, livelihood and education participation through home grown school meal program, Ethiopia program in Gambella region different woredas and refugee camps, on a day-to-day basis, to ensure optimal storage and delivery of the program, ensuring adherence to all ZOA policies.

Typical Responsibilities - Key end Results of the Position:

  • Facilitate the cleaning work of warehouse area in a programmed manner and ensure to have attractive and suitable working environment for storing Meal Service Material
  • Make sure always school Meal Service materials are organized on the right location and proper manner.
  • Keep a tight control while undertaking of school Meal Service items receiving, Issuing, record keeping and periodic inventory taking.
  • Prepare the Goods Receiving Note and Goods Issue and record data on Bin cards as required.
  • Be aware and follow security/safety procedures according to rules and regulations of ZOA and take appropriate safeguard of Meal Service Items.
  • Inspect the quality and quantity of Meal Service materials during receiving, dispatching and stored in the warehouses.
  • Consolidate monthly, yearly and other need-based reports on Meal Service stocks , Fixed assets and Inventory Status.
  • Ensure all storage food safety standards are met at all times;
  • Assist to build, and maintain, positive working relationships with all individual schools, school directors, PTAs, and cooks.
  • Provide monthly stock reports to school meal program manager and logistic department;
  • Assist the correct and timely distribution of food to participating students;
  • Ensure that stock management records are correct and up to date at all times;
  • Ensure that hygienic food preparation protocols being observed in the storage, preparation and serving of school meals;
  • Performs other related tasks as required

Job Requirements

Skills, Qualifications, Experience and Attitude Required

  • BA Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Management, logistics and/or Business Administration and related.
  • For degree three years of experience and for Diploma five years of related experience of warehouse, transport and procurement. Experience on school feeding is advantageous.
  • Must have renewed motorbike driving license
  • Excellent knowledge of basic computer applications 

Physical Environment and Demands:

  • The job duties require an employee to work in a hardship areas for extended periods
