COMUNITA VOLONTARI PER IL MONDO (CVM) is an Italy based international NGO re- registered with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Agency for Civil Society Organization as Foreign organization under Certificate number 0941 in accordance with the Civil Society Organizations Proclamation number 1113/2019 to operate in Ethiopia. CVM is active with various projects in defense of orphaned and vulnerable children, domestic workers and maids, minorities, HIV positive and AIDS patients. Moreover, it works to guarantee the increase in the availability of water for drinking and agricultural purposes and for the increase in sanitation. 

CVM is inviting interested and qualified applicants to apply for the following vacant position of Driver and water technician.

Job Description:

Main Duties & Responsibilities:     

• Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, spare parts, etc.), performing weekly check according to the CVM Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions.
• Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as CVM security rules, in order to avoid car accidents.
• Ensuring all passengers have all necessary papers in order before traveling, and ensuring non CVM staff sign disclaimers of responsibility before using the vehicle.
• Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting the documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to Logistics and ensuring that the goods have the necessary documents.
• Performing  daily assignments given by the office.
• Follow up vehicles service time of different projects.
• Conduct minor maintenance as required.
• Follow up for the appropriate maintenance of vehicles in the garage.
• Follow up of vehicles annual inspection.
• Ensure basic hand dug wells’ maintenance and basic maintenance for other water scheme facilities in the target area.
• Ensure biogas maintenance in the household and in the cooperatives

Job Requirements

   Essential educational, experience, and competency requirements are:

• TVET Certificate in Masonry works related to WASH, water and sanitation, electromechanical works and water pumps. Training certificate on small scale Water supply systems construction and maintenance
• At least 2-5 years’ experience on water scheme/hand dug wells maintenance and knowledge of biogas systems.
• Able to assist in preparation of specifications on materials required for water supply systems
• Produces activity progress reports and forward to project or technical facilitators
• Able to Maintain and rehabilitate water supply systems
• Old 3rd grade public driving license (Can drive Pick-up, Double Cup and long bases Vehicles) or having two new driving license for pick up (ደረቅ 1) and for double cups (ሕዝብ 1) respectively.
• More than 5 years of relevant driving experience
• Problem solver
• Leads with Integrity and Respect
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
• Good communication skills of Amharic and English
