 Currently, our Company is looking for Finance Director who is responsible for leading the finance operations, developing the finance team and provide strategic and finance analysis to Senior Management team and partners that supports the growth of the business.  

Job Summary

 The Finance Director is responsible for leading the Finance Department of IMS. The position holder will be responsible for managing staff, develop the financial system, updating the Finance manual, preparing financial reports, and ensure any financial activities are based on the Ethiopian Legislation. In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting the performance of the business.

 Duties and Responsibility

 Financial Control

  •  Develop a plan for budget and cash flow management and based on the result provide financial analysis.
  • Develop policies, improve the process of the finance department and ensure that financials are conducted based on the policies and procedure of the Financial Manual.
  • Provide insight to the Country Manager, Senior Management team and partners on the performance of the business.
  • Support the Country Manager and partners on developing strategies for the IMS and new ventures.
  • Contribute to the financial strategy of the business and be instrumental in the development of internal control policies and procedures within the company.
  • Ensure all financials are conducted in line with group frameworks and policies, as well as external and Ethiopian legislation including tax, legal, finance, business, and IT, and constantly liaise with the relevant internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Ensure systems, processes, and internal controls are executed efficiently and to a high standard and support continual improvement agenda.
  • Support audits including statutory, Partners, and as well as internal audits. 
  • Contribute to the financial strategy of the business and be instrumental in the development of internal control policies and procedures within the company.
  • Responsibility for risk management and will be expected to work with other senior leadership to develop risk minimization plans.
  • Following up on tax settlements and providing guidance and advice to the Country Manager and partners .

 Managing Team 

  • Provide guidance and leadership for the team comprising of Finance Manager, Chief Accountant, Sr. Accountant, Accountant, and Junior Accountant.
  • Ensure that any poor performance within the team has been dealt with the team and actively recognize and encourage strong performance.
  • Ensure the team has the right tools to perform their task and with the HR Department identify the Training required for the Finance Department.
  • In collaboration with the HR Department, identify the career path of the Finance team and cultivate their talent.
  • In collaboration with the HR Department conduct Performance Evaluation and track performance of the employees.

 Reporting 

  • Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports to the Country Director, Board of Directors, and PE Investors. 
  • Oversee period close by the 10th of the following month and ensuring that financial statements are 90% plus accurate before submission to the Directors and the PE Investors. 
  • Ensure the reports produced by the finance department are accurate and meet the standard of IMS and PE Investors
  • Ensure reports such as financial statements and periodical reports are submitted on time.

Job Requirements

Qualification

  • Minimum qualifications and requirements
  • Have a strong background in financial accounting, reporting and controls with 7+ years of experience in a similar role. 
  • Be able to translate complex data into insightful analysis, understandable to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Independently manage workload and prioritise appropriately to meet deadlines.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset and openness to embracing change;
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills and ability to achieve results through influencing others;
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing and demanding environment. 
  • CPA, ACCA, ACMA or equivalent. 
  • Experience working with senior decision-makers.
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and Quick book software.
