Job Description

Purpose

With the focus on Mago and Omo socio-ecological landscapes, in the South/West Omo Zone of SNNPR, the incumbent will undertake/coordinate the implementation of multi-sectoral interventions pertaining to the following:

  • Conservation of bio-diversity and restoration of ecosystems for improved productivity and ecological functionality;
  • Livelihood diversification for improved food security and resilience;
  • Increased a wareness and uptake of energy-efficient technology for reduced deforestation;
  • Strengthened capacity for research, advocacy, and multi-stakeholder processes for sound environmental governance and sustainable development practices;
  • Improved public-private partnership for supporting landscape restoration and resilience building.

In connection with this, the incumbent will be responsible for, among other things, planning and directing the implementation of the project; organizing the delivery of project inputs and managing project resources; providing technical backstopping in his/her area of specialization; mobilizing communities in protecting landscape resources through community monitoring and enforcement activities; reporting and communicating on project progress; documenting and disseminating project achievements and lessons; networking and coordinating with the relevant Stakeholders; ensuring compliance with and institutionalization of the relevant sector policies, strategies and standards.

Job Requirement

Qualification: MSc or BSc degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, wildlife/Bio-diversity Conservation, Climate change Adaptation, Integrated Water Resource Management, Rangeland Ecology, Forestry, or related fields.

Experience: At least three years for MSc holder, or six years relevant experience for BSc.

Duty Station: South Omo Zone, SNNPR
