Summary
The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Residential Security Alarm Technician.
The work schedule for this position is:
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties
Under the supervision of the LE staff Residential Security Coordinator (RSC/LES), The Residential Security Technician (RST) is responsible for the analysis of and implementation of needed physical and technical security equipment at USG residences. Conduct security surveys on existing and prospective mission residences documenting security deficiencies. Conduct residential security surveys and maintain files for approximately 160+ USG leased residences. These surveys will include digital video and pictures. Maintains accurate records of residential alarm systems, shatter-resistant window film (SRWF) grillwork, locks, and door installations. Performs other tasks as required by the RSO to ensure conformance to standards and the efficient cost-effective operation of the Residential Security Program.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience at the journeyman electrician level with clerical work and report writing as part of their duties is required.
EDUCATION: Completion of secondary school is required, and completion of vocational training/apprenticeship is required.
LANGUAGE:
- Level 3 (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English and Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing Amharic is required. (This may be tested)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to successfully complete the COR training
- Able to work independently with minimum guidance and reliable performance
- Must communicate and deal directly with embassy residents in troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise regarding residential security equipment
- Proficient in the use of computers and digital cameras to prepare reports, correspondence, and security surveys
- Must have a valid Grade II/Auto driver’s license is required. (Required to attach the driving license copy) (the skills may be tested)
