Project Information

Ethiopian public health institute in collaboration with London School of Hygiene & Tropical medicine is working on different research projects funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

The Informed Decisions for Actions in Maternal and Newborn Health project (IDEAS) is one of these projects and its aim is to improve the health and survival of mothers and babies through generating evidence to inform policy and practice in Ethiopia. One of the IDEAS project themes is collaborating with a multi-country research project titled: “How does a multi-country, multilateral network focused on specific health care improvements evolve and what shapes its ability to achieve its goals?” (Short title: ‘QCN project’). This country-based case-study approach is conducted in Malawi, Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Uganda. This research seeks to inform planning and delivery of future multi-country implementation-focused networks, and understand how this could be improved so as to better achieve set goals. The overall aim of this three-year research program in Ethiopia is to examine how the QCN (established in 2017) is constructed, how it operates and assess its effects.
