Background:

The "Urban agriculture for advancing healthy food system in Ethiopia" https://www.idrc.ca/en/project/urban-agriculturc-advancing-healthy-food-systems-ethiopia is an International 'Development Research Centre (IDRC) a funded project intended to identify policy-level blockades and barriers and enablers for promoting healthy food systems in Ethiopia.

The project will also explore the feasibility of integrating the urban agriculture programs with selected social protection programs for advancing the access of the urban poor to healthy foods in Addis Ababa. Other activities of the project include capacity building and supporting graduate research on food systems. The project will be implemented over 36 months by the School of Public Health, AAU, and its partners (Ministries of Health and Agriculture, Centre for Food Science and Nutrition, AAU and Academic Centre of Excellence for Human Nutrition, Hawassa University).

Duties and Responsibilities.: The Project Coordinator will work under the direction of the Principal Instigator and will be responsible for the following activities:

1. Organize annual Food Systems workshops and other related capacity building activities
2. Coordinate ground-level implementation of qualitative and quantitative research activities specified in the project protocol
3. Analyze qualitative and quantitative data emanating from the project in a timely manner
4. Develop technical reports and scientific articles based on the project data
5. Liaise with partners and ensure timely submission of reports to the donor and partners.

Qualification and experience:

• Master's Degree in Public Health (MPH) degree, preferably in Public Health Nutrition
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience

Other Competencies:

• English language proficiency, both written and spoken
• Proven skills in qualitative and quantitative data analyses and scientific writing

Duration of employment:

• 12 months, with possible extension based on performance and budget availability.

Salary: Negotiable
