We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for a Business Manager within Safaricom Telecommunications Plc. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

Detailed Description

Reporting to an Exco member, the role holder will provide assistance to the Exco member in the day-to-day management of the workload as well as in strategic and commercial business matters. The role holder will also be responsible for providing guidance and sound advice on any pertinent matters, prioritizing and managing issues that have been escalated to the Exco member. The role holder will also be responsible for the execution and coordination of strategic initiatives, communication of strategic frameworks for employees and executives, facilitating effective decision-making by the Exco member and the Executive team and Managing the Exco member’s office to ensure that inquiries and staff issues directed to him/her are addressed properly, efficiently, judiciously and conclusively.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain in-depth knowledge of market dynamics such as competitor analysis, market share, demographic trends, and growth projections.
• Determine and execute key business initiatives that will drive business operations.
• Provide commercial and business insights derived from reports, spotting business problems and providing recommendations for improvements.
• Understand business direction and works closely with cross-functional teams to develop solutions, roadmaps and assessment of potential business impacts.
• Provide support in the preparation of key events and forums attended by the Exco member by preparing all the key points that are to be addressed and compiling the required reports, ensuring alignment with key strategic imperatives and driving the right agenda in each event or forum.
• Work closely with the External Affairs team on the Exco member’s communication and speeches to ensure relevance and quality
• Assist other exco members in operations, resource management, budget, revenue accounting, etc.

Job Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree
• Should have 5 to 7 years work experience in the Telecom/ICT space or FMCG
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management and/or commercial function
• Minimum 5 years leadership experience in a cross-functional or matrix organization.
• Requires strong experience in business and solution development, project/program management, and project delivery in a technology space
• Project Management certification Prince II or PMP and / or Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt.
• Experience developing complex, multi-year project plans to meet business objectives within budget
