Job Description

The Ayuda en Acción Foundation is an international organization working in humanitarian and development works. Ayuda en Acción Ethiopia is registered as foreign Charity Organization in Ethiopia and working in partnership with multiple development actors, government sectors, communities and their organizations to eradicate poverty. Our primary task is to promote improvements in the individual and collective capacities of the children, families and communities with whom we work.

Ayuda en Acción is seeking experienced candidates for the position of Humanitarian Project Officer with particular experience of education in emergency to implement the Humanitarian projects in Fanta Rassu/04 zone, Gulina and Awwa woredas of Afar National Regional State. The project is based in the humanitarian needs and priorities of the region, zone and woredas and the respective communities linked with long term development approaches working in several sectors as food, noon food items, Education in Emergency, WASH, IPDs and resilient livelihoods.

Position Description:

The successful candidates will report to Humanitarian Projects Coordinator of Afar national regional State and provide the overall project implementation and reporting. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Report to Ayuda en Accion Afar Humanitarian Project Coordinator.
  • Establish partnerships and relationship with respective government sectors, Private Stakeholders and community-based organizations with in Fanta Rassu zone, Gulina and Awwa Woredas.
  • Implement, monitor and report the one-year humanitarian project and annual operation plans for the project.
  • Supports the Afar Humanitarian project coordinator in designing, implementing and monitoring the projects managed directly and by local implementing partners.
  • Properly manage the Project resources (volunteers, financial and material) as per the direction from the project coordinator and senior humanitarian Project manager of the country office.
  • Understand and assure the implementation of any system security and safety procedures, protect the completeness, accuracy and integrity of accounting data and information based on AeA policies, procedures, donor regulations, and the law of the land.
  • Document all processes, achievements, learning and challenges of the project to the Ayuda en Accion knowledge-base.
  • Documenting and reporting as per the AeA policies, procedures, donor regulations, and the law of the land.

Offer Terms

  • Immediate incorporation and full working day,
  • One year contract with probation period indicated in the law of Ethiopia and with possibility of extension.

Duty station: Gulina/Awwa with traveling to communities and villages in the Woreda.

Remuneration according to the salary policy of Ayuda en Acción.

Job Requirements

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in disaster and risk management, education, sociology, social work, social anthropology, community mobilization and management, agriculture, agribusiness, natural resources development or development studies.
  • A minimum of 4 years work experience in humanitarian and emergency response, DRR, long- and short-term projects/programs development and management, natural resources management, project proposal writing, partnership/relationship development, human, financial and material resources management, M&E, documentation and reporting in reputable institution/s preferably in the NGO sector.
  • Good knowledge of development and humanitarian interventions and protection in Afar and surrounding regions and zones
  • Practical application of emergency response, DRR, protection, participatory development approaches and tools.
  • Good knowledge and experience of implementing protection, humanitarian standards, principles and reporting donor-funded development projects/programs
  • Ability to understand risks, mitigation means and reporting
  • Good communication skills, computer skills, report writing good written and spoken English and meeting deadlines
  • Able to communicate the respective local languages and know the community culture

Other requirements:

  • Availability to move and travel to rural communities, villages and to the zone.
  • To have good behavior and attitude.
