Purpose:
This post is important and in line with ZOA Ethiopia strategic plan particularly food security and livelihood interventions as a tool for peacebuilding. In addition to this the post will help ZOA Ethiopia to implement livelihood activities including VSLA, income generating activities that focused on the program area
Typical Responsibilities - Key end Results of the Position:*
- Build, maintain and strengthen relationships and linkages with local authorities, communities, NGOs, UN and other key stakeholders in the area of agriculture, food security and livelihood and VSLA
- Conduct regular field visits to project sites to verify quality/progress of food security, agricultural and livelihood program interventions
- Provide business skills training to project beneficiaries
- Assist established youth businesses to identify and develop market links for their products
- Gather and collect relevant data for socio-economic monitoring and studies for best VSLA development in for young people on the move in the program area
- Guarantee timely development and implementation of monthly and quarterly work plans and budgets
- Distribute inputs to project beneficiaries and maintain accurate records of the same in collaboration with the immediate supervisor
- Proactively participate in baseline and end line data collection.
- Establish and maintain a good rapport with project beneficiaries, as well as local government officials, community leaders and relevant local organizations
- Harmonize the implementation of livelihood activities for youth ensuring good collaboration and networking with other partners operating in the woreda
- Provide quality reports timely and have a proper documentation
- Conduct selection of beneficiaries in close collaboration with woreda, ARRA, UNHCR and other beneficiary selection committee
- Conduct assessments and stakeholder analysis
- Facilitate fishery and agriculture related training activities with livestock and fishery/agriculture bureau experts/ training providers as needed
- Provide the advice to targeted groups on methods of fishing technology and operations
- Ensure technical quality and accuracy of ZOA food security and livelihood project activities
- Serve as a bridge between host communities and refugees production and integration on the market development
- Assess market chain constraints with the community and develops participatory solutions and review the plan with partners, community representative and supervisor
- Establishes and strengths Village Saving and Loan Associations (VSLA) and run sessions
- Mobilize targets for training, coaching, mentoring, saving within VSLA group members
- Arranges or facilitates cross visits and conducts on-site training for youth groups or VSLA
- Meets regularly with key stakeholders to discuss project progress updates, exchange information, discuss challenges, and share tasks accordingly.
Dealing with Problems:
- The incumbent should have higher degree of problem analysis for both external and internal environments in order to propose viable solution which is in line with the organizational rules and regulations.
Communications and Working Relationships:
- The incumbent should have high degree of communication skills in order to deal with the partners and stakeholders relevant for the smooth implementation of activities
Job Requirements
Educational Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness or any other related fields/Animal Science (Fishery) or other relevant field preferred
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant professional experience for Degree holders and 2 years for Masters
- Experience in designing or managing programs aimed at increasing cooperation in resource use between groups with a history of violent conflict
- Experience working on business and enterprise development or related interventions for youth
Skills Specific to the Post
- Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members in a cross-cultural environment
- Commitment to the vision and mission of ZOA Relief \Hope\ Recovery
- Excellent understanding of local context preferred
- Computer literacy skills with standard business software (including Word, Excel and Power Point
- Good Communications Skill both English and local language

- The incumbent should possess higher degree of integrity and able to lead a team in a disciplined manner
Physical Environment and Demands:
- The job duties require an employee to work in a hardship areas for extended periods
