Purpose

The Individual Consultant (IC) will take the lead under the supervision of the HHR, to organise a series of training courses on the subject matter. He/she will conduct online Afan Oromo Language workshops for all interested staff. Scope and method the IC will organise a three months language training on three times per week basis for beginners. The IC will develop all the required training materials including PowerPoint presentations, handouts as well as group work exercises. He/she will conduct tests at the end of every course and communicate the results to the participants. 

Schedule 

The IC contract will be for a period of 3 Months. Specific Tasks to be performed by the IC:

• Submit a work plan for the 3 Months. Towards the end of the contract HHR will review progress made.
• Conduct language classes to Helvetas staff and prepare all teaching materials and examinations materials. 
• Plan and prepare well-structured, clearly presented lessons appropriate to the abilities of all students and the syllabus being taught.
• Prepare the lesson plan and correct students’ work as well as consulting with students.
• Engage in pedagogical activities (outside the teaching responsibilities).
• Monitor and record attendance and report it to the HHR.
• Make sure that the teaching learning process is stimulating which facilitates learning.
• Conduct a monthly test to assess the participants progress and report the result to the HHR.
• Conduct a final test at the end of each course.
• Perform any other duties as required. 

Outcome

In addition to writing training reports, the IC will prepare a monthly report with a complete listing of activities accomplished and the number of personnel reached. The IC will submit to HHR a list of participant attendance and evaluation sheets for each workshop organized as well as tests results.  

Job Requirements

Qualification 

• An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Afan Oromo language teaching, and literature or language pedagogy is required. 

Experience 

• A minimum of five years of recent experience teaching Afan Oromo language to adults, which may come from a variety of corporate, academic and other professional settings is required.
• Experience in developing materials to teach Afan Oromo language is desirable.
