Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation (ECDSWCo.) is transforming and diversifying from the current consultancy business operations. Taking advantage of the existing ECDSWCo.’s strength and maximizing on the newly emerging external opportunities that are being prevalent with the shifts in Ethiopian Economic Policy – the Corporation is aiming to play a significant role in the success of the Ethiopian Construction Industry -by creating a vibrant business institution that will not only fill the gap that is in the current construction industry but also replace the need for having international construction companies that are dominating the government mega-scale projects.

To this, the Corporation is emerging as an Engineering and Investment Group. The proposed name of the Group is ‘’Ethiopian Engineering and Investment Group (EEIG)’’. The Group will comprise three main operational business units i.e., Consultancy, Construction and Investment.

EEIG-Construction business unit key activities are high-end complex construction projects, predominately high-rise commercial and residential buildings, real-estate; infrastructure (roads, railways and airports) & water and energy sector construction. EEIG-Construction alone would grow into a conglomerate of several business units including Piling, underground and foundation Works, Fit-Out, Energy (Solar Solutions), Electro-Mechanical Solution, Facility Management, Landscape and Construction Materials Production.

EEIG Construction is launched with the vision of being the best construction company in Ethiopia with a strategy of Timeously executing high-end complex projects, by utilizing proactive management skills as a Design and Build Contractor to achieve an optimum return and aspiring to be a competitive and preferred choice and deliver excellence.

Scope of Role

The individual will assume the full responsibility of design, supervision, and documentation of highway/civil related works. The individual will be stationed on project site. 

Top Roles and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage Autodesk Civil 3D and Infraworks models.
• Generate 3D Renderings and planning-level design documents utilizing Infraworks.
• Review all construction work for completeness and accuracy.
• Produce maps, diagrams, and profiles, using cross-sections and surveys, to represent elevations, topographical contours, subsurface formations and structures.
• Create maps, diagrams and profiles using Civil 3D design surfaces.
• Draft plan and profile views of improvement plans, such as street, storm drain, sewer, water and other underground improvements, using smart labels, and other methods.
• Create and manipulate construction details and cross sections.
• Ability to address RFI and comments from site REs project managers, supervisor or internal review.
• Generate earthwork models and utilize Civil 3D tools to perform quantity calculations and prepare “heat maps” depicting areas of deep cut and/or fill.  
• Use checklists set-up for quality control on each project and submit work according to deadlines.
• Provide an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry on a weekly basis.
• Complete printing and plotting requests.
• Observe professional ethics.
• Demonstrate proactive approach to learning of new digital design tools
• Produce improvement plans, detours, exhibits and drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• BSc degree in civil engineering or related field from a recognized University.
• A minimum of 3 years work experience in design and supervision
• Mastery of Civil 3D design components and drafting techniques, ideally having worked on major design projects. Experience in hydrology is a plus
• Ability to prepare conceptual designs utilizing a combination or Google Earth, Infraworks, AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D as appropriate
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and exhibits.

• Ability to work autonomously or as part of a larger team and able to make design decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use advanced mathematics to solve problems
• Wider knowledge of other disciplines highly desirable
• Capable of accurate work under pressure and able to work on several projects simultaneously
• Ability to assist Junior members of staff and BIM/Revit Technicians
• A keenness to drive organizational change, and willingness to train and development existing staff, where applicable
