Job Description
BACKGROUND
The Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA) is a non-profit-making women's advocacy group founded by Ethiopian women lawyers. It began work in 1996 after being registered in 1995. It has its head office in Addis Ababa and eight branches in Bahir Dar, Assosa, Hawassa, Adama, Diredawa, Semera, Gigiga and Gambella. The regional offices’ staffs are supported by 54 trained voluntary committee members at woreda and zonal levels providing structures to reach women throughout Ethiopia. EWLA’s mission is promoting the economic, political, social and legal rights of women and to that end assist them to secure full protection of their rights under the Constitution of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and other international human rights conventions.
The Association, to achieve its mission, works through three core programs. Legal Aid Program, Public Education and Capacity Building Program and Research and Law Reform Advocacy. Through legal aid service EWLA assists women, particularly poor women, whose rights are violated. Such women whose basic rights were denied had no recourse but to accept injustice. EWLA’s legal assistance has helped to provide them access to demand their legal rights in courts. In the second program, the association works on raising awareness on women's rights. The program conducts training and advocacy workshops on the legal, social and political rights of women, targeting different groups of people as well as government and civil society organizations’ (CSOs) employees. The third program is. Various researches are undertaken in the areas of women's rights in this department. And the research findings are used as a major resource for law reform advocacy and public education.
Since April, 2021, EWLA has started implementing a project titled “She Leads: Empowering Girls and Young Women to participate in Addressing Negative Social Norms in Amhara Region, Ethiopia.” This project focuses on GYW (Girls and Young Women). The intervention is taking place in Amhara Regional State West Gojjam Zone, Yilamanadensa woreda: Debremay, Goshiye and Adet town kebeles. The project has three major outcomes namely:
One of the major activities to make the aforementioned outcomes happen is conducting a series of community conversations for community members and students (school communities). Thus, EWLA has found it important to develop guideline that will govern this community conversations. Hence, this TOR is developed to specify tasks of applicants and other details to govern the guideline production.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To have a comprehensive guideline to be used by facilitators of community conversation and staff of EWLA while running community conversations.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
The specific objectives of the manual are to:
SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of this task is limited to developing guideline for running community conversation (CC) sessions in Amharic version later to be translated into other local languages and English language as needed

Submit the refined Amharic version guideline (a document) in hard and soft copies
DURATION/TIMELINE
This assignment will take place for a maximum of fifteen consecutive days after both parties have signed the contract. As part of the inception report, the consultant should bring a complete work plan.
