Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Facilitate mobilization and demobilization of the drilling crew and machinery;
• Supervise the proper setting of the drilling rig and use of proper tools;
• Provide with the necessary information for well completion;
• Organize, and coordinate the overall activities of the drilling operation;
• Report timely the progress of the drilling operation;
• Plan and facilitate the regular service and maintenance of the drilling rig, compressor and trucks along with the assistant driller;
• Provide the lithological and other relevant data for casing arrangement and assist the hydrogeologist for the same;

Duty Station: Addis Ababa /EKHCDC Head Quarter with frequent travel to field

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance;
• Basic knowledge of materials, terms and practices in construction field;
• Basic knowledge of drilling mud fluid and the nature of core drilling;
•  Basic knowledge of mechanics as related to drill rigs;
•  Skill in watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machine is working properly;
• Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weakness of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;
• Skill in performing routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed;
• Skill in determining what types of tools and equipment is needed to do a job;
• Ability to have a strong commitment to safety and environmental considerations;
• Ability to follow operating procedures and complies with all regulatory requirements;
• Ability to travel to remote worksites for extended periods of time;
• Ability to perform independently, or in a team environment, take direction from supervisor;
• Ability to communicate information in writing and verbally so others will understand;

Job Requirements

• Education: Diploma in Auto mechanics, Auto electricity or General mechanics;
• Trainings on water well drilling is mandatory;
• Minimum 5 years work experience as a chief driller;
• Minimum of 4th grade driving license;
• Ability in welding is advantageous.
