We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Senior Specialist - Fraud Investigations within the Legal & Risk function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Detailed Description

Reporting to the Executive Head of Fraud and Risk, the role holder will ensure/manage the proper investigation of internal and external complaints/cases and the identification, recommendation, and implementation of appropriate control measurements, in order to prevent and mitigate any threats to the organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assessment of cases or files for investigation and plan appropriate action plan (commence investigation, appropriate referral, etc.)
  • Conduct and manage all cases booked out on the Case Managements system and ensure that such investigations are done in accordance with STEP policies and procedures (Evidence sourcing, investigations, witness interviews, etc.).
  • Identify, recommend and implement internal control measures to pro-actively prevent incidents of economic crimes against STEP.
  • Produce and review of quality reports in accordance with business requirements.
  • Liaison with all STEP staff, clients, external complainants, LEA, etc.
  • Compilation of disciplinary bundles and giving evidence at disciplinary enquiries where required.
  • Ensure proper filing of all records in accordance with policy, legislation and business procedure.
  • Internal departmental and team support including client support and guidance on various matters and queries (Whistle blowing, external and internal customers, e.g. Dealers, auditing, forensics, HR, business.)
  • Pro-active identification of criminal syndicates and further addressing such threats in a quick and effective manner.
  • Assist with police operations where necessary and ensure the arrests of identified suspects.
  • Dealer investigation and other related external investigations and championing of high level/profile investigations

Job Requirements

  • At least 5 – 8 years’ experience in investigations of which three (3) years needs to be within the telecommunications environment
  • A 4-year Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Law and/or Forensic Investigations is essential
  • An ability to be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally to a wide range of people at all levels including communicating complex technical issues to a non-technical user base
  • Being qualified as a Certified Fraud Examiner will be an additional advantage
  • An understanding of Telecommunications sector will be an additional advantage
