The Assignment

IMC is looking for a Hub Management Consultant to lead the country operations in driving the business forward and deliver the program of work.

IMC has a long-standing presence in Ethiopia, with strong connections with major donors. IMC has successfully managed and delivered over 30 development projects and programs over the past 25 years.

This consultancy will include close involvement in both business development activities, marketing and project management in Ethiopia. You will support the Senior Technical Director in leading, developing and growing the Ethiopia portfolio.

Main tasks

  • Work with the Senior Technical Director and Africa & the Caribbean team to develop the Ethiopia strategy and build appropriate networks and partnerships to grow the portfolio
  • Work with IMC’s technical & regional teams to identify local & regional opportunities
  • Plan, identify and mobilize the resources needed for Ethiopia business development and project operations
  • Lead, coordinate and contribute to the preparation of project expressions of interest (EOIs) and proposals to a high standard and to tight deadlines
  • Negotiate proposal budgets and consultant fee rates with partner firms and consultants, and prepare financial proposals
  • Coordinate and administer the day to day marketing, business development and project implementation operations in Ethiopia. This includes the pipeline of opportunities, project and business development reporting, invoicing, chasing debtors, resolving difficulties, project support, etc
  • Oversee and support the management of projects and consultant teams from the UK office, ensuring the successful delivery of the project to time and budget, and to the satisfaction of the client. This includes regular reviews with the project teams ensuring the right resources are in place, management systems and processes are followed, client communications are effective
  • Communicate with and manage relationships with senior international specialists, development partner representatives and high-level government officials
  • Financial management of projects, including controlling budgets, overseeing earnings statements, managing expenditure, invoicing and payments
  • Increase IMC’s specialist consultant CV pool
  • Ensure business development, CV and project reference databases are maintained
  • When necessary, attend and actively participate in management meetings and report on the business activities in the region
  • Undertake fee earning work in Ethiopia or the region as appropriate
  • Meet the quality standards of the company and of the development partners, our clients

Travel – Due to the nature of our work, all IMC contracts require consultants to be able to travel nationally or internationally when required.

Location – The consultant should be based in Addis Ababa. There will be the requirement to travel within the region or the UK on a regular basis.
