Job Description

M&E Coordinator is responsible for designing and implementing Monitoring & Evaluation system and tools as per the program/project and donor requirements. S/he will provide technical assistance and strategic oversight in implementing M&E activities, monitor the program/project activities on regular basis, developing and maintaining the MIS of the organization. The coordinator is responsible in collecting, analyzing and reporting different data all relevant stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation system that will ensure tracking of project/ program results at different levels (outputs, outcomes and impact)
  • Coordinates the implementation of the M&E framework and guidelines to effectively meet EIFDDA’s mission, vision and objectives of the organization;
  • Participate and provide support to project design activities including strategic Results Frameworks, Log Frames, determine performance and impact indicators and targets
  • Provide support to proposal development for M&E components
  • Develop M&E plans for all projects and proposals and ensure the same is followed up during implementation;
  • Carry out data quality assessments/ audits regularly for M&E data based on agreed indicators to guide decision making
  • Provide alert to the respective departments on corrective actions required to avoid delays in implementation, including flagging operational issues and risks requiring timely actions.
  • Track and update program/ project M&E data as well as ensuring the data is of the best quality possible
  • Support in designing data collection instruments as per the donor requirements and ensure the quality of data collected as well as the reports produced;
  • Monitor project activities, outputs and progress towards anticipated results
  • Develop/ Adopt an integrated database of all programs/ projects and ensure accountability through regular data updates, data integrity and working in collaboration with staffs
  • Training implementing partners staff in monitoring and evaluation processes and providing ongoing coaching
  • Review monthly progress reports from partners and ensure they have evidence to back-up and provide feedback to the respective staff
  • Determine data analysis procedures and use of quantitative/ qualitative tools
  • Conduct program/ project analysis or special studies and regularly providing information/reports on progress towards targets of plans and programs;
  • Designs and engage in baseline, midterm and final evaluations for projects/programs;
  • Ensure the collection of relevant and appropriate data needed for an effective M&E and learning system which will be utilized in monitoring strengths, weaknesses and gaps in existing programs/ projects and for reporting on donor commitments.
  • Submits progress and M&E reports periodically with recommendations on action to be taken in areas where improved performance is needed
  • Provide support to knowledge management processes to EIFDDA and its partner
  • Ensures that lesson learnt and success stories are well documented and that experiences gained are used to improve project/program implementations;
  • Develops the capacity and technical expertise of staffs, member organizations and partners on new approaches and tools on M&E
  • Enable staff to monitor and evaluate their own efforts, gather relevant data and produce required progress reports;
  • Share learning and provide constructive comments to colleagues in order to ensure program quality
  • Represent EIFDDA at various program/project Monitoring & Evaluation forums/ teams as deemed necessary;
  • Ensure that cross cutting issues such as participation, gender, age and disability are effectively addressed/ mainstreamed in all project implementations
  • Undertake other activities as directed by the Program departments.

Job Requirement

  • Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Business Administration, Economics, Monitoring & Evaluation, Demography, Population Studies and other related fields
  • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports;
  • Demonstrated experience in data processing and management of large scale surveys
  • Demonstrated experience of statistical packages and/ or data analysis software and advanced computer skills are a must;
  • At least 6 years’ direct experience for Bachelor and 4 years for Master in a position of monitoring and evaluation on projects
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Must be result focused and be able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a multi-cultural team and environment
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing advocacy, conflict transformation, peace building, interfaith dialogue are an added advantage

Duty Station:- Addis Ababa EIFDDA Head Office, With frequent travel to the field

Terms of Employment: One year with a possibility of extension based on performance & availability of fund.
