Purpose:

Working closely with the Head of Finance and Compliance, finance team, and other relevant ZOA’s staffs, the finance system adviser will support in contextualizing and the financial and accounting management policies and procedures, support the system evaluations, improvement and design, internal controls improvements and implementations,  and the like so as to ensure the ZOA financial system operated as per the expectations. In addition, the finance system adviser will take play a role as change agent in relations to finance operations improvisations and developments.

The following are the essential functions and objectives of the positions:

  • Review and draft financial and accounting policy with procedural manuals and templates: to clarify the roles, authority, and responsibilities for essential financial management activities and decisions within ZOA Ethiopia
  • Review and draft specific Policy Statement, Procedures and Responsibilities for the following financial activities
  • Revenue/receipts
  • Grant disbursement/ expenditure, accounting, control and reporting
  • Purchases
  • Travel and subsistence (t&s) in line with the existing HR policies and procedures
  • Payroll
  • Bank/treasury
  • Cash and petty cash management
  • Account receivable
  • Accounts payable
  • Stock and inventory
  • Fixed assets
  • Budget management
  • Prepayment and accruals
  • Improvisations of the finance system so as ensue the finance functions performed in most effective and efficient ways with productions of finance reports timely and with high qualities to management and donors
  • Refining and specifying the responsibility for essential financial management activities and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Detailed job descriptions for the identified positions (functions, roles and responsibilities)
  • Reviewing and revising current ZOA’s relevant financial formats and templates so as to ensure that formats will support staffs with simplicities without compromising the compliances
  • Review the existing and define essential finance and accounting positions and corresponding job descriptions (TORs) to carryout, and
  • Standard financial management and accounting functions in ZOA Ethiopia,

Job Requirements

Professional Competencies:

  • Relevant university degree and above in Accounting and Finance
  • Excellent Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Preferable professional qualifications in ACCA, CPA, CIA , working on consultancy service and research’s on similar fields will advantageous
  • Experience in designing and implementations of accounting and finance policies
  • Excellent computer skills and experience

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • Context related skills, knowledge, and experience
  • Knowledge of system analysis and design
  • Knowledge of ERP system
  • Knowledge of accounting controls and policies
  • Knowledge of fraud preventions policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the context in Ethiopia
