The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) wants to recruit employees in the following vacant positions the details of which are mentioned below.

About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia. ERCS provides services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services. ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of 12 Regional Offices, 34 Zonal Branches and 131 District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committee and 5871 Kebele Red Cross committees.

ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs relating to food security, climate change adaptation, livelihood diversification, and institutional capacity building interventions, with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. ERCS works in partnership with the Ethiopian Government, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), partnering National Societies, members, volunteers and the communities we serve.

Key performance Areas  

  • Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and controls the support service of Health and Pharmaceuticals.
  • Crafts policies and procedures for support service matters of health and pharmaceuticals and ensures enforcement of the same upon approval;
  • Oversees, monitors and evaluates personnel and budget administration, general service, financial recording, documentation and reporting, and other administration and finance performances of the service as whole;
  • Ensures that the work units of the health and pharmaceutical service are properly staffed in accordance with their respective human resource requirement plans; 
  • Heads the day to day activities of the support services personnel of health and pharmaceutical services; ensures that employees of the health and pharmaceutical services report to duty on time and live up to other rules and regulations in place;
  • Coordinates and monitors the preparation of annual budget for income and expenditure and annual forecast of cash flow for health and pharmaceutical service and central store;
  • Ensures that budget requisition, consolidation, endorsement and implementation matters of the health and pharmaceutical services are properly monitored, reported and controlled in accordance with pre-established regulatory framework;
  • Ensures that the accounting and management of revenues, expenses, inventories, supplies and long-term assets of the health and pharmaceuticals is in compliance with the relevant policies and guidelines of the Society; 
  • Ensures that the financial reports of health and pharmaceuticals are properly tracked, recorded and consolidated, statement of income and expenditure account, cash flow statement, balance Sheet and other financial statements issued timely and properly;
  • Follows up management information data on such matters as sales, cost of sales, purchases, current assets and liabilities; 
  • Ensures that the financial books of health and pharmaceuticals are always kept up-to-date, timely closed and audited;
  • Ensures that evaluation and analysis of monthly trial balances, quarterly statements of income and expenditure account and quarterly balance sheet of health and pharmaceuticals and of any other financial information are properly carried out and qualified information provided for management decision making;
  • Takes personnel actions in compliance with the regulatory frameworks in place of health and pharmaceuticals and the Society as a whole;
  • Ensures that the work relation and industrial relation in health and pharmaceuticals as a whole fosters performance;
  • Ensures that the performance appraisal system in place is properly enforced, competency gaps and training needs identified, proper training programs administered and effectiveness monitored and evaluated; 
  • Ensures that the financial operations of health and pharmaceuticals are properly supported with up-to-date and reliable source documents through accidental and scheduled inspection and auditing;  
  • Oversees general services such as logistical services, insurance, housekeeping, security and maintenance of furniture and equipment; 
  • Authorizes payments and other actions as per the delegated authority;
  • Conducts performance appraisal on staff directly accountable to him/her in accordance with the appraisal scheme and the official timeframe set to that effect; Reports on the activities of the division in accordance with reporting relationships and requirements;

Terms of employment: - Permanent after probation period  

Grade :- XIII

Job Requirements

Qualification Requirements:

  • Second or First Degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance
  • 8/10 Years related work experience out of which 4/6 years in a managerial positions
