Background

On behalf of YNSD, The Talent Firm is recruiting for a Program coordinator. YNSD is a non- Governmental non-profit making indigenous organization with major program areas of Youth Empowerment, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Sexual Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS and Environment specifically on climate change.

Youth Network for Sustainable Development (YNSD) in partnership with Amref Health Africa implements Kefeta in Adama, Bishoftu and two subcitys in Addis Ababa Kefeta envisions Ethiopian youths who are game changers: empowered to advance their own economic, civic, and social development; resilient in the face of shocks; actively promoting development within their communities and contributing to the country’s peace and prosperity.

Kefeta will strengthen the youth ecosystem in Ethiopia with integrated, multi-sectoral, youth-centered programming aligned with the Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach.

Job Summary: The program coordinator is responsible for working within the program staffs to successfully implement the organization’s and the project’s objectives in the areas of the project; effective planning, organizing, executing and reporting to stakeholders and donors. She /he is responsible for establishing collaborative relationships with executing government agencies, civil society organizations, and the donor organization.

Primary duties and responsibilities: the Program coordinator performs the following duties and responsibilities.

  • Expedite and coordinate project implementation establishing collaborative relationships with executing government agencies, and other civil society organizations, facilitating timely and efficient delivery of project inputs
  • Create a detailed work plan, determine resources(time, money, equipment required to complete the project, review the project schedule with senior management
  • Support the M & E officer in Conducting a Project monitoring and evaluation using appropriate approach, communicate and document findings
  • Monitor the progress of the project (action plan, budget vs actual accomplishment), prepare and submit narrative for management and donors
  • Evaluate the outcomes, impacts of the project
  • Communicate findings and progress reports, to stakeholders ( the Executive director and program manager)
  • Provide overall credible leadership ensuring that Kefeta’s strategies, guidelines, SOPs and manuals are properly implemented in the clusters;
  • Contribute to technical excellence at Kefeta consortium being active member to technical working lab assigned for;
  • Provide targeted technical assistance to project implementation to foster continuous improvement in quality in both programmatic and operational performance;
  • Ensure projects are aligned with and contribute to national and local strategies, policies, operational guidelines, and protocols as applicable;
  • Plan and facilitate planning and performance review sessions in alignment with Kefeta’s planning cycle;

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience:-

  • MPH or MA in Sociology, project management, economics or other related social science fields a MA degree in similar social science fields is preferable. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in an NGO setting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong commitment to working with young boys and girls issues
  • Track record in project management, reporting, and information material development
  • Demonstrated skills and significant experience in advocacy projects
  • Experience in workshop/ trainings, campaign/events organizing
  • Proficiency in the English language both written and spoken
