Duties and Qualifications

Description of Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Field Officer, the staff member will provide functional and administrative support to the One-Stop-Shop (OSS) in the refugee camp and to the Tsore field unit. He/She will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide quality, timely and effective administrative and functional support to persons of concern (POC). S/he may liaise externally with partners on correspondence and/or protection issues as guided by the supervisor
  • Facilitates the involvement of POC in making decisions that affect them. To achieve this, the incumbent will need to build and maintain an effective interface with communities of concern, partners and colleagues.
  • Provide reception for refugees and asylum seekers; refer them to the correct desks within the OSS; assist them in obtaining documentation.
  • Respond to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding UNHCR¿s registration procedures and their rights and entitlements.
  • Assist the senior registration assistant in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and data related to registration cases
  • Conduct systematic scanning/digitization of new applications/requests and assist the protection team in the digital filing
  • Provide support to Tsore operation, by undertaking administrative, protection or any other activity assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Minimum Qualification and Experience

Education

  • 1 year relevant experience with High School Diploma; or Bachelor or equivalent degree. 

Work Experience

  • Minimum of one year of previous experience preferably in the area of Protection,
  • Previous experience of working with refugees.
  • Team player and flexibility.
  • Fluency in English (Oral and Written);

Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Power point and Excel.

Desirable Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication (Verbal and written) skills.
  • Training and capacity-building skills in the area of international refugee protection.
  • Ability to work under pressure in sensitive security and political environment;
  • Excellent analytic skills.

Language Requirements

  • For General Service jobs: Knowledge of English and/or UN working language of the duty station if not English.
