Tasks and responsibilities
- Operate the sales register machine properly according to the regulations set by the Ethiopian customs and revenue authority
- Prepare monthly payroll and VAT declaration.
- Report/pay Government taxes, withholding to EMOR.
- Produce internal reports for decision making purpose as required.
- Prepare yearly financial statements and close books of accounts.
- Give appropriate explanations for Government bodies (MOR) and External Auditors on behalf of the company when required.
- Ensure that finance administration activities are carried out as per the standard.
- Reminding organization’s owners of financial irregularities, non-compliance, non-adherence and other financial concerns that relate to the organization.
- Liaison with the external auditor and take the responsibility for on time clearance of all obligatory financial matters of the company.
- Classifying, coding & posting of transactions on Peachtree.
- Reconciling bank and sub ledger to general ledger account balance
Knowledge, skills, and experience required
Job Requirement
- BA Degree from recognized university in Accounting, trained in Peachtree Accounting, IFRS, E-Tax & E-Payment with similar working experience in Import Export Company
- 3-5 years of experience in similar sector
- Knowledge of reporting tax procedures (VAT, Income tax, pension, excise and others)
- Experience in year-end closing procedures
- Audit experience preferred
- Problem-solving skills
- Decision-making skills
- Multi-tasking and prioritizing abilities
- Well spoken and written both English and Amharic language
- Ability to work under pressure and keep to deadlines
- Demonstrated skills and significant experience in finance
- Ability to work independently but also as part of a small team
- Experience of similar work
- Experience in Peachtree accounting software Microsoft excel
