ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Training Supervisor you will create training materials, deliver trainings for trainers (TOTs) for the field teams based in Woredas and Kebele, while supervising the actual training delivery to the Tree Nursery Operators (TNOs) You will also analyze training needs and prepare training documents from the field team then translate these training documents, and coordinate communications from HQ to the field and vice-versa. For the 2021-2022 planting period, One Acre Fund is planning to conduct different training sessions for the field team in 21 different locations/Woredas of Amhara region grouped into 4 clusters. The Training Supervisor will deliver TOTs and actual training for the field team. You will report to the Training Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Training for Seedling production and marketing
  • Independently revise, write, translate tree production materials for the Tree Field Team
  • Provide technical training of trainers (TOTs) on nursery management and seedling production with your staff and government partners by following OAF training manuals.
  • Organize different training manuals for seedling production, marketing, distribution and planting training materials.
  • Conduct data quality for the printed training documents and bindings,
  • Provide technical support for the field TREE team
  • In collaboration with the core program team visit the core tree nursery sites and offer technical constructive comments for the field team regarding seedling production.
  • Identify commonly happened nursery pests and disease and discuss with the field teams on how to deal with them.
  • Identify the field team skill gaps and professional development needs of field team members.
  • Share all problems with HQ promptly, help brainstorm solutions, implement the discussed solutions

Job Requirements

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • BSc Degree or higher in NRM, Environmental Science, plant science, agriculture or a related field
  • 4+ years overall work experience
  • 2+ years experience in conducting tree-related training at the grass root level and working with farmers.
  • Command of the basics of email, Microsoft Excel, and Word, good typing skills
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Excellent written and spoken Amharic
  • Good knowledge of trees and tree management practices/ agroforestry

PREFERRED START DATE

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, start dates can vary significantly by role. We are adapting rapidly to Covid-19 and most of our team is now working remotely.
