Job Description
Background and Context
SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. The organization started its humanitarian work with the opening of its first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. The organization has been providing life-saving provisions such as food, water and health services for a very significant number of children devastated by severe drought and the subsequent famine.
Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia aspires that every child grows up with love, respect and security.
The Joining Forces Alliance Initiative is a collaboration between the six biggest child focused agencies; Child Fund Alliance, Plan International, Save the Children International, SOS Children’s Villages International, Terre des Hommes International Federation, and World Vision International. Both Plan and SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia are implementing the consortium project titled “Joining Forces for Africa (JOFA) – protecting children during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond”. The overall objective of the project is that children and adolescents experience reduced levels of violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect.
In line with SOS CVE Harar Program location, Joining Forces for Africa (JOFA) project committed to improve protection in resilient families, communities and institutions in the context of COVID-19 and during recovery phase in Chinakson and Babile district, East Hararghe. Positive parenting programs intended to adapt and deliver to support parents and caregivers to develop knowledge and skills to parent positively without violence, to manage stress and improve communication and problem solving within the household. Therefore, this ToR is developed to organize a seven-days TOT training on
Objective
The following are the major objectives of the training
Methodology
To ensure quality of the training and meet objectives of the training, experienced and licenced trainer/consultant will train and employ the following training methodologies:-
Presentation
Group exercise/work and presentations by participants (More time is allocated to this method);
The meeting follows a tangible and practical reality of the basic principles of positive parenting and child protection.
Share examples and cases of positive parenting oral, written or video-based presentation.
Interactive oral briefing will be given to the participants on the meeting topics with the help of flip charts and power point followed by actively involvement of participants
Deliverables and Responsibilities
The trainer is responsible for providing participatory training to trainees on Parenting Skills Education in Humanitarian for seven days.
Preparing and delivering a pre-training and post-training evaluation tests so as to reckon the impact of the training
Prepare case scenario and make the training sessions to have group assignments ( it can be home take or class work)
Prepare Power point presentation based on positive parenting handout provided by SOSCVE Harar program location JOFA Project
Creating an inspirational poster on role of the facilitator and the participants’ comments and questions are entertained. Confidentiality of the cases used as examples in the training session ensured.
The presenter guides and is used as a resource person, not an expert with all the answers.
Deliver the training as per the agreement
Produces final training report on over all training process.
The must haves
Interested individual consultants/ consulting firms who would like to apply for the consultancy work should submit Cover letter: outlining the suitability of the consulting firm/ individual consultant to the assignment, introducing the consulting firm/ consultant with an expression of commitment to carry out the work as described in this TOR;
Technical and financial proposals should be enclosed, signed and stamped in separate envelopes and submitted in person to the following address up to November 30, 2021 only on working days(Monday to Friday)
