Immediate Vacancy Announcement: Qualitative data collector

The Last Ten Kilometer (L10K) project—What it Takes to Improve Health Outcomes in Rural Ethiopia—has been implemented by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) through funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) since 2007. The project has been striving to improve reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and child health (RMNCH) care behaviors and outcomes in Ethiopia.

 

L10K in collaborations with MOH and regional health bureaus is implementing adaptive implementation strategies to address the implementation challenges of community-based neonatal sepsis management in Ethiopia and mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on neonatal mortality at Dembecha and Lume woreda of Amhara and Oromia regions, respectively. Currently, we intend to conduct a process evaluation to explore the ongoing implementation challenges and measure implementation strength of the strategies.

In this regard, L10K wants to hire two qualitative data collectors as short term consultants who will conduct the data collection and transcription in under the technical lead of the M& E and Research team. 

Required number: 2 (two)

Place of Work: Dembecha and Lume woredas.

Duration: 15 days

Deliverables:

·        Together with the researcher, develop travel plan and carry out in-depth interviews with woreda health office, health center staff, and health extension workers

·        Record conversations and take field notes and submit Audio records

·        Translate and transcribe from local languages into English

·        Submit field report

Job Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

v An advanced University degree (Master’s degree or PhD preferred) in public health, behavioral science, health education, or social science field

v Experience using data to support research efforts and strong levels of data literacy

v Experience in qualitative data collection and analysis 

v Experience working with local consultants in conducting research and analysis

v Experience with program evaluation

v Good interpersonal and communication skills

v A clear understanding of the Ethiopian health systems

v Speaking and writing fluency in English and other local languages (Amharic and Oromiffa)
