Job Description
Background:
The International Rescue Committee, one of the world’s largest humanitarian international NGOs, provides relief, rehabilitation, and development support to vulnerable people and communities in over 30 countries. We began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in Ethiopia’s Somali region and are currently providing assistance to Ethiopians and refugees in six regions in Ethiopia, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.
Scope of work
Child protection and education Manager responsible for the overall management of the child protection and education program. The position holder is tasked with running the program in humanitarian/emergency, recovery, and development contexts. In close collaboration with the CYPD Coordinator, the position holder is involved in concept note/proposal development, technical support, staff development, and supervision, ensuring budget management and compliance and networking. The position holder also plays a key role in the monitoring and evaluation of the two sectors. The incumbent will be based in Addis Ababa with frequent (around 50%) travel to the field for monitoring and providing on-the-spot technical support
