Job Description

Sheger CFDCS is working in partnership with ChildFund Ethiopia. 

Sheger Child and Family Development Charitable Society (SCFDCS) is a local Civil Society Organization operating in Addis Ababa. The organization works to promote the wholesome development of children. Sheger Child and Family Development Charitable Society (SCFDCS) would like to invite competent vibrant candidate to apply for the post of Executive Director.

The Executive Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and control of project activities carried out by Sheger Child and Family Development Charitable Society (SCFDCS) in the area. S/he ensures that the operations of SCFDCS in the area are in accordance with SCFDCS policies and procedures. Oversees the implementation of SCFDCS’s program in the area and ensure that its implementation is contributing toward the attainment of the goals of the office. S/He will supervise and follow up project’s activities.

Major Responsibilities

  •  In close cooperation with the Board of Directors, manage and direct all SCFDCS operation in the area.
  • Implements projects and programs in the area that is child-centered and part of community development.
  • Makes frequent visits to communities including family visits. Based on these visits, provides feedbacks, and ensures that SCFDCS staff is guided by it accordingly.
  • Establishes and maintains optimal participation of families with children enrolled in SCFDCS.
  • Ensures that all projects implemented are receiving appropriate technical assistance
  • Provides Unit Heads and CDW/SRW with technical support.
  • Ensures that all projects and programs are part of the community development outline and in accordance with SCFDCS policies.
  • Maintains continuous improvement of the projects implemented by basing on lessons learned and experiences from the existing previous activities in the area of SCFDCS and other related organizations.
  • Overseas the Development of Strategic Plan and project proposal according to SCFDCS policies and procedures based on community felt needs.
  • Contributes to the development and improvement of the Country Strategic Paper (CSP).
  • Overseas that annual plan has been prepared in line with the project document and submits to all concerned bodies.
  • Lead the organizations team in the planning, Monitoring and evaluation of the projects.
  • Ensure that results-based approach has been included in project design, Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Ensure that learning, evaluation, continuous improvements, and technical assistance is an integral part of the implementation of each program in the area.
  • Ensure that reports have been submitted to all concerned bodies on time as per the standard reporting formats and requirements
  • Ensure the quality of all child correspondence letter, Child Verification Statues (CVS) and Child Progress Report (CPR) and submit the letters to the sponsorship department before the due date.
  • Ensure the quality of sponsorship related correspondence.
  • Provide technical support to sponsorship and program officers.
  • Oversees that financial polices/control have been maintained and implemented properly.
  • Approve expenditures as per the approved budget and SCFDCS financial policy and guideline.

Terms of Employment: One year with a possibility of extension based on proven performance.

Place of work: Addis Ababa, with frequent field travel to operational areas

  •  Skill of Strategic Planning,
  • problem solving and judgments, public relation, oral and written communication, program management, financial management, crisis management, Human resources management, decision making, communication,
  • interpersonal/ team building and working on a computer skill on window, word, PowerPoint and excel is required

 EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Masters or bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Development Studies, or related fields with not less than ten years of related work experience out of which five years is at a similar or higher position.
