Project overview

Currently, Pathfinder Ethiopia is implementing adolescent empowerment project entitled “Act with Her” aimed at supporting adolescent girls to achieve a healthy transition into an adulthood. The project is currently implemented jointly by Pathfinder International Ethiopia and Care Ethiopia in Amhara, Oromia, and Afar regions. Pathfinder is currently leading implementation of the project in Amhara region, South Gondar Zone, in five woredas: Ebinat, Libo Kemkem, Tache Gayint, Lay Gayint and Simada and Debretabor town. Currently, the project is implemented in Damot Gale, Damot Woide, Demboya and Mirab Badocaho woredas of Wolaita and Kembata Tembaro zones of SNNPR. 

Job Summary / Position Summary

Under the guidance and close supervision of the National MEL Officer, the Data Clerk is responsible for maintaining up-to-date project and donor databases including in-house data tracking spreadsheet systems. She/he will be responsible for Monitoring, maintaining and securing data for easy accessibility. The data clerk will play key role in following the data management and reporting requirements for funded projects and conduct routine data quality audits in the supported sites.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ensures availability of data collection tools in all intervention sites.
  • Ensure proper utilization of paper-based data collection forms by all mentors under intervention kebeles.
  • Enter collected data into DHIS2 system on timely basis.
  • Ensures that complete accurate report is uploaded and reflected in DHIS2 platform.
  • Maintains clear, updated tracking record of tools which form part of the scheduled reports. 
  • Provides technical support to mentors on the management of data collection tools and timely reporting. 
  • Review collected data by mentors and provide timely feedback to ensure data quality.  
  • Conduct data validation and verification checks to ensure that collected data are of quality and that the status is reflective of performance using appropriate data quality assurance procedures.
  • Participate in data collection, analysis, dissemination, and use process.
  • Support mentors and field level staff to make use of collected & analyzed data. 

Job Requirements:

  • TVET Diploma in ICT, computer science or related fields.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in data entry, data clerk in health sectors. 
  • Experience in health records management or information technology.
  • Foundational knowledge of the DHIS2 platform and data quality exercises. Experience in DHIS2 system is preferable
  • Skills and experience in computer applications and utilization is mandatory
  • Must have strong writing and communication skills both in Amharic and English.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and have strong interpersonal skills and skills to promote teamwork
  • Must demonstrate strong interest and commitment to adolescent girl issues, gender equity actions, and abandonment of harmful traditional practices that affect the health and well-being of women and girls
  • Demonstrable personal integrity and honesty and must have strong people skills
  • Proficiency of local language Wolaitigna (for position based in Bodity) and Kembatigna and/or Hadiygna (for position based in Demboya)
