We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Programme Manager: Business Transformation within Enterprise Business Unit in Safaricom Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Detailed Description

Reporting to the EHOD: Enterprise Operations & Planning, the Programme Manager will manage the key programmes strategically positioned for the Enterprise Business Unit. To plan and execute on digital transformational projects using both agile and waterfall project management methodologies.

Job Responsibilities

Key accountabilities and decision ownership: Strategy

  • Develop, define and implement the overall projects demand management structure & prioritization processes
  • To ensure project requests/demand prioritizations are carried out in line with organization’s strategic goals and based on defined parameters
  • To initiate, participate and contribute (at a high level) to any ongoing business activity which will affect the projects demand pipeline.
  • Build an overall demand pipeline on an annual basis as well as in an ongoing basis (mapped against annual plan).
  • Manage list of project demand pipeline on an annual basis as well as in an ongoing basis

Digital Transformation across Enterprise Business

  • Oversee all interactions and items driven by Group and impacted stakeholders through managing the output and owning the relationship.
  • Contributes to develop the overall EBU strategy and direction through in-depth knowledge and expertise of business improvement drivers / continuous improvement initiatives
  • Re-set and rethink our ambition as we progress in the transformation
  • Foster and build relationships within Enterprise Business to ensure the readiness, adoption and embedding of a digital change within the areas of impact 
  • Facilitate best practice sharing and knowledge transfer
  • Develop and Implement agile adoption. Foster an understanding of and adherence to agile principles.
  • Supporting the Change from a Telco to Techco i.e. digital change management
  • Monitor external trends to assess current focus and identify new areas.
  • Use techniques that increase collaboration, predictability, transparency and promote a culture of experimentation and innovation

Project Management Operations / Customer Facing

  • Manage the EBU programme (consolidation of multiple projects – both strategic and operational)
  • Manage both local and Safaricom led projects
  • Priorities projects in line with the business strategy and carefully manage the implementation to ensure minimum disruption in the business
  • Develop a project dashboard which will outline the key projects in the EBU, status and project risk
  • Establish project governance and reporting guidelines to better manage projects in the EBU
  • Partner with business leaders at all levels to identify short and long-term divisional and enterprise wide projects.
  • Develop and maintain a project and enhancement Methodology aligned with business priority, delivery capacity, technical dependencies and ongoing project portfolio.
  • Promoting project management within the organization across waterfall and agile principles.
  • Resolve issues and conflicts related to the interdependency of projects
  • All processes and procedures of the departmental to ensure proper service delivery and alignment to ISO processes.
  • Coordinate the development of SLA between business units and other support functions i.e. Enterprise Technology, Enterprise Commercial, Risk, HR, Supply Chain, Legal and Regulatory

Benefit Management

  • Review and assist project teams in developing the Business Case
  • Ensure tangible/intangible benefits of projects are identified and documented
  • Ensure project KPIs are identified, tracked, and documented
  • Ensure benefit registers are updated and documented

Reporting and Dashboard

  • Ensure status of all project delivery across all phases, project issues, project risks, and project plans are tracked and communicated
  • Ensure resource allocation, utilization, knowledge transition and resource availability are tracked and communicated
  • Ensure benefit realization after project implementation 

Job Requirements

Qualifications 

  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • Project Management certification
  • Have 10 years work experience in the Telecom/ICT space of FMCG; 5 of which must be in senior Management
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management and information technology
  • Minimum 5 years leadership experience in a cross-functional or matrix organization.
