Our client in the telecom sector is looking for a Fiber Technician to join their team. If you have worked in the telecom sector on the construction and installation of fiber optic appliances and network, have commissioned projects of passive optic fiber network, and is looking forward to work with a team of diverse professionals then this is the job for you. 

Overall Responsibility

To ensures Construction, Installation and Commissioning of Passive Optic Fiber Network (Optical Fiber Link, GPON Network and FTTX)

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Cabling of OSP (Blowing/Floating and perform Duct Integrity test)
2. Splicing, Termination and testing of Cables, ODF/FDT.
3. Networking Testing & Commissioning using ITUT-G.650.3 Test Methods for Installed SM Optical Fiber Cable Links.
4. Evaluating complex situations accurately and identifying viable solutions for successful outcomes.
5. Identifying, implementing and benchmarking for best installation practices.
6. Troubleshooting of Fiber optic links in case of fault
7. Documentation/Report generation of work done.
8. Inspect/check fiber routes/Hub sites as preventive maintenance
9. Ensure personal safety while performing duties adherence to safety rules and regulations of the company.
10. Any other responsibility may be assigned from time to time.

• Timely and quality report/documentation/traces for future reference
• Compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements and standards

• Ability to analyze OTDR traces and Generate a report as soon as a site is active
• Ensures that all sites attended to are clearly labeled
• Be able to locate faults and mobilize resources within minimal time to counter the fault

Qualifications and Requirements 

• Minimum of Diploma or Degree in Telecommunications or related field
• Proficiency in Fiber Cable Termination with Connectors
• Well versed in using Fusion Splicing Machine Technique
• Must have Fiber Optic Splicing & Terminating Experience
• Good knowledge of using FO troubleshooting tools like OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing, etc.
• Troubleshooting fiber optics, electrical circuitry/related to telecom industry
• Performing fiber optic splicing, cutting, assembly and testing of cables
• In-depth knowledge of assembly and alignment of optical, mechanical and electrical components into sub-assemblies
